INTRODUCTION TO MYSELF

Assalamualaikum everyone. I go by the name Khairul Nissaq Binti Abdul Rahim. I am from
KAC1101G. I am currently studying in UITM Kedah, Sungai Petani campus. I am one of the
undergraduate in diploma in accountancy. So, let’s get to know more about myself. I came
from a family of three which consists of me, my mother and my brother. I live in Taman
Mutiara, located at Karangan, Kulim, Kedah. I was born on 31 st May 2004 at Hospital Besar
Kota Bharu, Kelantan. I used to study in SMK Sultan Badlishah located in Kulim. One of the
main purposes I am doing this portfolio is to introduce students about UED 102 soft skills.
UED 102 provides students with learning skills essential for university life, which is needed
for each student.

a) Making The Transition From School To University

Have you ever wondered about the differences of being a university student and a school
student? Moving from school to university is tough but worth experiencing. As a student, we
need to come to our sense that we are already entering the university phase, a new path in
life. Everything is new, the environment, the people, the lecturers and so on. In university,
each decision is determined by us. No one will yes or no to your choice, everything is up to
you. So, in order to be a successful student, we must be independent and learn to adapt with
this new environment. We must be wise in decision making too. Figure below shows the
differences between school and university.

Do you know what is a learning style? Learning style is a method of learning practiced by an
individual. The figure below shows some of the learning styles. We mainly focused on
auditory, visual and kinaesthetic styles of learning.

My Personal Learning Style Plan

Each student has their own way of studying. For me, I would clean my study table and
organise my stationery. I also would keep my phone on silent to avoid distraction. I like to
observe my study materials then I will read the words out loud. Once I have observed them, I
would try to visualize all the key points and spelling of difficult words to ensure I have
memorised them. Apart from that, I would rewrite them on a piece of notes that I would stick
on my study table. Through this way, could ensure myself to see all the key points I have
written everyday.

Time management definition

 The ability to use one’s time effectively or productively, especially at study and work.

 A precious commodity; once it passed, it cannot be turning back.
 The way we spend time reflects our priorities
 How we spend time tells a lot about our personality
 In Islam, make the use of time wisely could increase our faith in life and the hereafter.

i. What is memory?
The ability to remember past experiences, and the power or process of recalling to
mind previously learned facts, experiences, impressions, skills and habits.

i. The importance of taking Lecture Notes
During a lesson, lecturer might highlight some extra information that is not included in
textbook. So, by taking notes during class, we would not miss any information. Notes
served as a record that was covered in class. In addition, writing our own notes help us
understanding better because we use our own key words and short forms.

i. Definition of plagiarism is an act of using or closely imitating the language and
thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that
author’s work as one’s own, as by not crediting the original author.

 Quote and paraphrase the sentences by including a quotation mark and using
