Ferrite (เฟอร์ ไรท์) หรื อที่เรี ยกว่าเหล็กแอลฟ่ า (a) คือ สารละลายของแข็งของเหล็กกับ
คาร์ บอน ซึง่ คาร์ บอนสามารถละลายได้ ในเหล็กมากที่สดุ 0.025 % ที่อณุ หภูมิ 723oC และ
ุ หภูมิห้อง 0.008%C เฟอร์ ไรท์มีระบบผลึกเป็ น Body centered
คาร์ บอนละลายได้ น้อยที่สดุ ที่อณ

Austenite (ออสเตนไนท์) หรื อที่เรี ยกว่าเหล็กแกมม่า (g) คือ สารละลายของแข็ง (solid
solution) ของเหล็กกับคาร์ บอน ซึง่ คาร์ บอนสามารถละลายได้ ในเหล็กมากที่สดุ ถึง 2.08% ที่
อุณหภูมิ 1130oC และจะลดต่าลงเหลือ 0.8%C ที่อณ ุ หภูมิ 723oC ออสเตนไนท์มีระบบผลึก เป็ น

Cementite,Fe3C (ซีเมนไตต์) หรื อเหล็กคาร์ ไบด์ เป็ นสารประกอบเชิงโลหะ(Intermetallic
compound) ระหว่างเหล็กกลับคาร์ บอน ซึง่ มีความแข็งแรงสูงมาก แต่เปราะรับแรงกระแทกไม่ได้
มีระบบผลึกเป็ น Orthorhombic ประกอบด้ วยเหล็ก 12อะตอมและคาร์ บอน 4 อะตอม
Pearlite (เพิรไลท์) คือเฟสรวมระหว่างเฟอร์ ไรท์กบั ซีเมนไตต์ ที่เกิดขึ ้นจากปฏิกิริยา Eutectiod
(0.8%C)ในขณะที่ทาให้ เหล็กกล้ าเย็นตัวอย่างช้ าๆ การเกิดจะสลับกันเป็ นแถบยาว ๆ ( Lamellar
structure) ของเฟอร์ ไรท์กบั ซีเมนไตต์
