At some point in our lives, the power of stereotype has veiled our understanding on

feminism, that we loose track of the truth and end up arguing ignorantly.

A feminist is not that person that thinks she doesn't need a man. Neither is she
that person that believes that she's better on the basis of being a female. How
does the phrase go again... What a man can do a woman can do better, right? Trust
me that's a slap on feminism.

Feminism is equality of both sexes in all aspects of public and private life. Often
I hear arguments that the higher you go the fewer women there is because women are
segregated from power and whole lot of other things. Trust me you cannot make
omelets without having to break some eggs. You cannot abstain from politics and
expect to become the president. It just don't add up. The number of female
politicians in this country is nothing but a hand full, that's why it's pitiful
that majority of posts held by women in this country is by appointment. Let's drop
tribalism and nepotism aside, the journey to the top ain't easy and Politics is
just like betting, to win it you have to be in it.

Women seek for equality when it lies at their door step. In this our present
dispensation feminism has been attained except for the area of our mindset. As a
girl you grow up with the view that without marriage your whole essence as a woman
is unfulfilled. Therefore living in pretence to be that perfect wife material,
doctoring your personality, the way you laugh, the way you react in anger, the way
you walk, talk all geared towards achieving that 'Mrs' title that ushers substance
to your name. Who gave you the idea that your dreams are void without a man in the
picture?

Playing by the precepts of feminism, treating a girl nicely for the sake of her
gender doesn't make you a feminist. No door opening, no footing the bills, no
protection, no pampering if the reason behind these are based on gender. Equality
comes with a price. As a feminist you cannot let your man be the 100% carrier of
the responsibilities in your relationship or marriage. Little things do matter.

A real feminist understands that a man needs her as much as she needs the man and
that there are gender roles, a true feminist doesn't detest another gender or see
them as inferior, a true feminist doesn't discriminate base on gender. A true
feminist is you when you know your rights and stop accepting being pushed around.
Men have more testosterone than women so are understandably stronger physically,
but gone are the days of 'might is right'.

The issue of gender is a controversial one, so I beseech you all to have a reformed
mindset. Thanks for reading up to this point.
