Premise:
In chapter 2, students learned about 6 different street types as outlined in the Toronto Complete
Streets Guidelines (TSGA). These 6 street types are a fraction of the many street types outlined in the
document. The TCSGA includes 8 other street types not covered by our chapter 2 lesson.
In small teams, students will select a street type to find within the GTA and sketch the street at 5
locations. A step-by-step guide has been created to help you in starting your Assignment 2 which
you can find on the next pages of this document. This assignment will be a part of your final term
project.

Submission Requirements:
5 Sketches per person

Deadline:
The project deadline can be found on SLATE in Assessments > Assignments > Assignment 2.
Late submissions: as per the Sheridan College Urban Design Late Submission Policy.

STARTING YOUR ASSIGNMENT 2

Step 1: Create a team of up to 3 people.

Step 2: Select a street type not covered in the lesson. Register the group and street type with your
teacher. The street types available are listed below.

Mixed Use Connector Street

Residential Connector Street
Scenic Street
Park Street
Employment Street
Mixed Use Access Street
Shared Street
Residential Shared Street
Mixed Use Land
Residential Lane

Step 3: With your team visit the street at a location of your choosing and select 5 spots per person
within roughly a city block to draw.

Step 4: Once the sketch is complete, include the students name, date and group number on each
sketch.

Step 5: Combine all sketches into 1 PDF and submit for grading.
