UNIT 8: CAUSE/ EFFECT PARAGRAPH

Activity 1
A. Pollution which is one of the biggest problems facing the world today has
many effects on human life. People who live in a clean, unspoilt landscape like the
Swiss Alps will tend to be more positively affected by their environment than people
who live in a polluted, rubbish-strewn city such as London. First of all, pollution is bad
for people’s health. For example, smog, caused by car’s exhaust fumes and factory
emissions, can lead to lung diseases in humans. Also, food and water can be polluted by
poisonous chemicals, and this can cause cancer in the people who consume them.
Another example is a nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan, which made it
impossible for people to live in a large area around the site of the explosion. Another
effect of pollution is the destruction of the human habitat. Thus, an oil spill can make
an area where people previously lived uninhabitable. Finally, pollution can also have a
negative effect on people’s psychology. To sum up, pollution has many negative effects
on the lives of human

B. Headaches can have several causes. First of all, it is an undeniable fact that one obvious
cause is stress. People have hectic lives and frequently have multiple stressors every
day, like work, family and money. Another reason for headaches in some people has to
do with diet. Other people may be allergic to salt, or they may have low blood sugar.
Some get headaches because they are dependent on caffeine. The environment can
also cause this uncomfortable condition. Allergens such as household chemicals
including polishes, waxes, bug killers, and paint can lead to headaches. In summary,
lowering stress, controlling your diet and avoiding allergens can help avoid headaches.

Write a cause/effect paragraph about this topic: Effects of divorce on families
Divorce is a fairly common occurrence among couples compared to previous years.
It has a lot of negative effects on the family. First, the main effect we can see is that
the interaction between couples was broken after the end of the marriage
relationship. Obviously, in some cases, they don't want to have any contact with
each other after the divorce, worse still the children may not be able to see their
mother or father if the situation is serious. As a result, the couple gave themselves
to each other with indifference and they push the relationship to become apathetic.
Furthermore, it can be become psychological damage to everyon who relevant.
Second, the couple tends to leave their children in the care of grandparents because
they can't afford to raise them or they want to find a new relationship. No matter
what happens after the spouse’s divorce, it is certain that their children are the
ones who suffer the most. They will grow up in the incomplete love of their parents
and the contempt of their friends. Finally, divorce can lead to disputes in court over
property, especially the custody of children, this legal issue can take a long time to
resolve. This is not good for both. In brief, couples need to understand the negative
effects that can occur after a divorce in order to pursue a lasting happiness.
