SOCIAL AND PROFFESIONAL ISSUES

Activity 3

Some organizations proposed federal legislation to prohibit monitoring of customer service or

data-entry employees with more than five years of experience. Give reasons
for and against monitoring experienced employees

Answer:
Monitoring experienced employees with five years of experience is a common practice.
Organizations have argued that monitoring more experienced employees could prevent
software failures and disgruntled employees. This proposal is in response to a recent GAO
report that showed 20 percent of workers were monitored excessively and many experienced
overtime work. However, it is important to note that the proposal ignores the real reasons
behind such high rates of monitoring and security issues.
