I would like to thank my Almighty Allah for providing me all the help and strength to
complete this project successfully and I would be grateful and like to thank a group of
people who supported and contributed their precious time in my process of doing the
project on “TOURISM in SRI LANKA”. Initially my vital thanks go to my lecturer Mr.
Daniel Jayasundara who gave an outstanding idea about the project and guided me on
starting the project. And I thank my friend Mohamed Azam for providing me some
website links to collect required information’s about the topic. And my IT lecturer for
giving a good knowledge on Microsoft word to arrange my project and do formatting
accordingly. And I thank my batch mates for giving me great push on completion of this

Executive summary
Tourism is one of the vast and significant factors and Tourism is a source which
generates income to the country in a rapidly higher rate. Tourism in Sri Lanka is more
effective and the core reason for Sri Lanka to be considered as a tourist zone around the
world is for its Natural beauty. After the effect of tourism to Sri Lanka, the country has
been promoted to all over the world.

In
this report I have included Tourism in Sri lanka, the tourism ministry and the vision and
mission of the ministry of tourism, The activities of tourism industry and how they are
carried out ,The tourist authorities and the core objectives and duties of them and how the
perform , The location of sri lanka and how the little island is situated and the climatic
and weather conditions of the country , The cultural heritage places in sri lanka such as
Anuradhapura, Pollonaruwa, Sigiriya, Kandy, Galle, Dambulla, Singharaja are
considered by UNESCO as wonders of the country and the significant facts of those
places and how was the places in the ancient era, The beauty of the country and how it is
structured, The attraction of the country and the factors that attract tourist fro all over to
visit Sri lanka and some of the attractive places in sri lanka such as beaches, parks,
ancient ruins, harbours, sanctuaries, and many more, Development in tourism and the
authority responsible for the development of tourism and development projects, Rate of
increase in tourism and the percentage changes in recent years and the set out targets for
the future, Development plans in tourism and some plans adopted to develop and absorb
more tourist to the country and the centre’s launched for the purpose of higher growth in
tourism and some objectives to be achieved set by the plan, Tourism a fact of economic
growth and how tourism assist the economy of the country, Tourism as a source of
income and how income is generated to the country through tourism and the business
opportunities and employment opportunities created through tourism, tourism Vs culture
and how the role culture is played by tourism and some defects caused to the original
culture of the country and how the young crowd is misguided, tourism at times of war
and how tourism industry was dropped down at times of war and the destruction to the
beautiful places which attract tourists
