• Question 1: Calculate the ARR for a 500 MW natural gas plant with a total installed cost
of $500 million. The plant has a capacity factor of 25%, a heat rate of 7 mmBTU per MWh
and faces a fuel price of $3 per mmBTU. Assume that r = 10% and T = 15 years.

• Question 2: Suppose the following power plants, shown in the table below. Demand is
60 MW. Please solve the economic dispatch problem.

Question 3 : The total cost functions for the two generators are C1(g1) = 5 + 4g1+ (g1)
^2 and C2(g2) = 5 + 2g2 + 2(g2) ^2. Total demand for electricity is 30 MWh. Solve the
economic dispatch problem.
