1 Scope
This Service Bulletin (SB) applies to the following Jenbacher* gas engines:
• Type 6 engines (including J624) from engine version E upwards

2 Purpose
This Service Bulletin is to inform you about the update of Maintenance Instruction W 8053 M6 in the form of a
supplement of an additional maintenance work called 'Tightening the nuts of the prechamber retaining bracket'.
The new maintenance step – specifically including a torque check and tightening the nuts only when needed –
must be carried out now and within a specified interval on the cylinder heads of the engines defined above.
A universal version (not specific to the system) of the updated Maintenance Instruction W 8053 M6 can
be downloaded from the INNIO Customer Portal. Please use the following link.

Table 1: Additional maintenance work required on the cylinder heads of the engines defined above

1) For new units/repair engines, tighten the prechamber retaining bracket on all cylinder heads for the first time after the
test run (in Jenbach).
When replacing a cylinder head (in the field), tighten the prechamber retaining bracket on the replaced cylinder head
for the first time after 5 to 25 oph (operating hours).
2) This activity is to be carried out by the customer, INNIO or a company selected and authorised by INNIO.

Update of W 8053 M6

The new maintenance work 'Tightening the nuts of the prechamber retaining bracket' must be
implemented together with the maintenance tasks 'Checking/adjusting valve clearance' and
'Measuring/monitoring valve stem projection' defined in Maintenance Instruction W 0400 M6. The
maintenance intervals required for these three maintenance tasks (after the test run, 5 to 25 operating
hours after a cylinder head replacement, after 2000 operating hours) have been coordinated. The
exception is the wear-related halving of control intervals. It is only valid for checking/adjusting the valve
clearance and measuring/documenting the valve stem projection, but not in relation to the tightening of
the prechamber retaining bracket covered here.

7 New maintenance work

The screw assembly covered in this document fixes the spark plug sleeve and the prechamber in the cylinder
head. The component that fastens the spark plug sleeve and the prechamber is called the prechamber retaining
bracket. The nuts (two pieces per cylinder head) of this prechamber retaining bracket must be checked now for
all engines defined above (see chapter 'Scope') at fixed intervals (see chapter 'Maintenance interval') for correct
tightening torque (see chapter 'Required tightening torque') and, if required, tightened when the tightening torque
is too low or has been reduced when in operation. This additional maintenance step is to be performed on both
"F" and "H" cylinder heads.

For the new maintenance work a special wrench (½” / SW17, part number 1246988) has been developed. It allows
the prechamber retaining bracket to be tightened without dismantling the exhaust valve rocker arm (rocker arm
for the exhaust valves).

8 Required tightening torque

Check the nuts of the prechamber retaining bracket with the torque prescribed in the Technical Instructions TA
1902-0228-E/F/J and TA 1902-0228-G/H/K and tighten if necessary.
This tightening of the prechamber retaining bracket may be performed with each (already tightened) nut
in a single work step using the full torque of 40 Nm, while tightening the prechamber in case of previously
loosened nuts (e.g. after replacing the prechamber seal) must always be done in the three-step method
defined by the Technical Instructions.
