Mapping with Course Outcome: CO5
Mapping with Program Outcome : PO1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,11,12, PSO1,2,3
Instructions:
ANSWER NEATLY AND LEGIBLY on A4 sheets only and not in sheets torn from a book.
Sketch diagrams wherever relevant. Explain your notations explicitly and clearly.
An incomplete assignment is not acceptable for submission.
Once you submit your assignment, you will be expected to answer all the questions there
INDEPENDENTLY. You may be asked to answer any question of the assignment in the class.
All other instructions as in this and all subsequent assignments also.
1. The equivalent impedance of the main and auxiliary winding in a capacitor motor is (15+j25) Ω and
(50+ j120) Ω respectively, while the capacitance of the capacitor is 12µF.Estimate the line current at
starting a 230 V, 50Hz supply.
2. A stepper motor has a resolution of 180 steps per revolution. Find the pulse rate required in order to
obtain a rotor speed of 2400 rpm.
3. A 220 V, single phase induction motor gave the following test results:
The stator winding resistance is 1.5 Ω, and during the blocked rotor test, the starting winding is
open. Prepare the Equivalent circuit parameters
4. A single stack 3 phase variable reluctance motor has a step angle of 15˚.Find the number of stator
and rotor poles.
