 INTRODUCTION
Himachal Pradesh is a mountainous state in Himalayan region.
Around 90% of the population resides in rural areas and are
dependent on natural resources for agricultural purposes.
Global environmental changes are threatening the natural
resources, thus pose a great threat to the livelihood of rural
population. The Eco Village Concept under the scheme by
Department of Environment, Science and Technology, Govt.
of Himachal Pradesh aims to develop an environmentally
sustainable model village.

These eco-friendly villages will be developed with support of

villagers and shall aim to reduce the ecological footprint by as
much as 50% of the base assessment from launch of the
scheme. It aims to create new means to build climate resilient
village communities. It will focus on development of
environmentally responsible practices in areas of sustainable
agriculture, water management, waste management, energy
conservation,management of natural resources, climate

AIM
To design a Ecovillage- a Living Museum in Janjehli village for Tribal communities and for
Tourists,by which their culture, tradition, art and practises can be promoted, rejuvenated and their
financial conditions can be improved.

 OBJECTIVE
-To design a sustainable eco-friendly project using
natural resources.
-To design spaces for interaction between
indigenous peoples and tourists.
-To design spaces where different tribal activities
can take place, such as folkdance, tribal games,
tribal market etc..
-To create new means to build climate resilient
village communities.

The site is proposed for the ecovillage

project in Bayla village in Janjehli panchayat.
Site area: 200 acre including land for
agriculture
