Lesson Overview/Rationale: Working in groups of three, students will develop and strengthen their
understanding of sexual assault and identify what to do in unsafe situations.

Curriculum Framework/Standard: Grades 7-8 Health Content Expectations: “Apply the problem-solving
steps to hypothetical situations involving assault and intimidation, including sexual harassment.” Pg. 53

Learning Objectives:
 Students will evaluate and identify the types of sexual assault.
 Students will recognize warning signs of unhealthy interactions.
 Students will develop a plan for what to do when they feel endangered.

Technology Uses:
 Computer
 Projector
 Microsoft Word
 Microsoft PowerPoint

Materials:
 Handout with assignment instructions and rubric
 Handouts for identifying sexual assault
 Handouts for preventing sexual assault
 Health textbook
 One clear report cover per group

Procedure:

 Teacher will present examples on various scenarios via PowerPoint.


 Teacher will discuss which scenarios are examples of sexual assault and
why.
 Students will get into groups of three.
 Teacher will assign each group a specific scenario.
 Student A will identify if/what type of sexual assault relates to the scenario.
 Student B will identify warning signs of unhealthy relationships and
interactions.
 Student C will create a plan for what to do when one feels endangered.
This Photo by Unknown  Groups will work together to check report for accuracy before turning it in.

Assessment:
 I will check student’s understanding of sexual assault by making sure their
report correctly analyzes the scenario.
 Each group will be evaluated on accuracy of report and teamwork.
