PLAN OF INVESTIGATION

Theme:Covid-19
Topic:How has Covid-19 affected the education system?

The topic of my portfolio is “How has Covid-19 affected the education

system?” I have chosen this topic because many students find it difficult to learn
since the start of the pandemic. As an English student, doing this wide research
will no doubt help me with my reading skills, writing skills and deep reasoning.
It will also help in reading more fluently. This research will consist of Web
articles, a video and a picture. These sources will be located by using Google
and YouTube.
REFLECTION 1
While doing the research on the topic “How has Covid-19 affected the
education system?”, I have learn a lot of new things. From the article:
“Education in the time of COVID-19”, it states that the suspension of face-to
face classes, the need to maintain educational continuity has presented
challenges to which countries have responded with different remote options and
solutions, including adjusting the school calendar and how the curriculum is
implemented, all adapted, prioritized and adjust in various ways. This helps me
to see that various countries find it hard to adapt to online-schooling while some
adjust well.

Digging in my research, I couldn’t find an audio, so I found an image which
shows Covid-19’s staggering impact on Global Education. It shows that the
learners were affected at Pre-primary, primary, lowest secondary and upper-
secondary levels of education, as well at tertiary education levels. 1.38 billion of
learners were impacted by natural school closures worldwide.

“How are schools in Jamaica Impacted during COVID-19?” was the title of the
video I found for my research. Primary and secondary teachers have explained
how hard it is for them to adapt to the online learning. They also state, they
must schedule drop off locations, so that students could get the assignments
given.

These three pieces of research has given me a deeper understanding of the topic.
REFLECTION 2

In the article, “Education in the time of Covid 19” by Nu CEPAL UNESCO, the
writer intends to inform the audience to believe that education in the time of
covid-19 is a lot more serious than the general population make it out to be.
UNESCO’S intention is to inform the reading audience by outlining the effects
of covid -19 on the education system. One example pointed out is that the
continuity of COVID-19 has presented challenges to which countries have
responded to different options and solutions. This and other statistics used by
UNESCO highlight that Covid-19 is really a problem in the education system.
Reflection 3
Doing this SBA, it has helped me to progress in my writing,
reading and comprehension skills. While working in my
group, it has helped me to see that team work is important.
Without team work, we wouldn’t be able to cooperate with
each other,so having these group members to work with was a
privilege. Overall, I would say it was good to work with them.
