I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for fourth-year students of the English Language Program. It extends
over a semester of 15 weeks with 03 periods per week. The course is delivered in the
seventh semester of the eight-semester program. Key aspects of the course include
increased emphasis on tasks of consecutive interpreting to promote students’ fluency of
both Vietnamese and English interpretation, and mastery of interpreting skills (memorizing,
note-taking, paraphrasing, and summarizing) through practice with higher level of
complexity. The course also aims at developing students’ ability in doing research for
effectively handling interpreting assignments.
The course also engages learners with individual, pair and group work activities through
which they can foster autonomous, collaborative and life-long learning.

1.2.1. Dating is the traditional first step towards marriage. But nowadays, young

1.2.2. Eating betel nut is a common habit which is practised in Southeast Asia. Listen
to an American sharing his experience with betel nut eating.

read called, “The Surprising Asians”.

Nhân dịp chương trình Giao lưu tháng 6 đang thảo luận về chủ đề khởi nghiệp, chúng
tôi đã tìm đến phỏng vấn 1 doanh nhân khởi nghiệp rất thành công – anh Nguyễn
Ngọc Điệp – Giám đốc Công ty CP vật giá VN. Công ty Vật giá (vatgia.com) đang có
những bước tiến mạnh mẽ sau 3 năm thành lập và là một trong những công ty tiên
phong và đứng đầu về thương mại điện tử VN.
Người ta thường nói rằng “cái gì cũng có cái giá của nó”. Vậy anh đã phải trả giá như
thế nào từ khi thành lập công ty để vatgia.com có thương hiệu thành công như hiện
nay?
Tôi không nhớ rõ lắm mình đã bị mất những gì khi thành lập công ty. Nhưng tôi
nhớ rất rõ điều đã đọc về những cái mất khi thành lập công ty và xác định làm
Giám đốc trong một cuốn sách.
• Thứ nhất, khi làm giám đốc, bạn sẽ mất nhiều tiền bạc. Ngoài chuyện bỏ vốn, bạn
cần phải trả lương hàng tháng cho nhân viên chứ bạn không hề được nhận lương.
• Thứ hai, bạn có thể phải ngồi một chỗ trong 3 năm mà không được đi đâu cả. VÌ
luôn có rất nhiều công việc chờ đợi bạn giải quyết.
• Thứ ba, rủi ro là rất lớn cho một công ty còn non trẻ. Cho nên phá sản là điều có
thể sẽ xảy ra. Và người giám đốc sẽ phải chịu trách nhiệm nhiều nhất khi công ty
có chuyện.
Đó, vậy làm giám đốc đâu có sướng như mọi người nghĩ.

Những thách thức lớn nhất mà anh đã gặp phải khi bắt đầu khởi nghiệp và làm thế nào
anh vượt qua được những thử thách đó?
Thách thức và khó khăn lớn nhất đối với bản thân tôi đó là vượt qua chính mình,
tập thói quen dậy đều dặn lúc 5 giờ sáng tập thể dục, và bắt đầu một ngày làm
việc mới. Rồi những ngày nghỉ, ngày lễ không được tụ tập cùng bạn bè mà phải
đến công ty làm việc. Nói chung là rất nhiều thứ cám dỗ xung quanh. Rồi không
thể tránh khỏi sự phiền trách của gia đình khi đi sớm về khuya … Nhưng khi đã xác
định được mục tiêu và con đường rõ ràng của mình thì cứ tiến lên phía trước, bỏ
qua những vật cản xung quanh để đến đích.
Trước khi thành lập vatgia.com, anh đã trang bị những gì để thành lập công ty?
Thực ra tôi không chuẩn bị nhiều lắm. Bởi vì lĩnh vực thương mại mà tôi định
thành lập là một lĩnh vực khá mới mẻ ở VN khi đó. Vậy là lần mò tìm hiểu trên
mạng, từ nhiều nguồn thông tin. Sau đó tuyển những người làm cùng với mình.
Với tôi nhân sự là yếu tố vô cùng quan trọng trong một công ty. Nhớ lại những
ngày mới thành lập, tôi phải đi thuyết phục từng người về ý tưởng kinh doanh
mới mẻ này. Trong khi mọi người chưa có khái niệm gì về mô hình kinh doanh này,
họ cũng chưa dám bỏ công việc hiện tại của họ để làm cho vatgia.com. Vậy là tôi
phải vừa làm việc vừa phải chứng minh cho họ thấy vatgia.com là nơi có thể đáp
ứng rất nhiều nhu cầu của họ. Và họ tin tưởng, đi theo và làm việc hết mình. Bây
giờ nhân viên của công ty đã lên đến hơn 300 người. Và chúng tôi liên tục tuyển
dụng thêm nhân sự mới.
Nói đến vấn đề nhân sự, đây cũng là một điều khá đau đầu đối với các nhà lãnh đạo.
Vậy với riêng anh, anh đã tuyển chọn nhân viên như thế nào để có thể đáp ứng được
nhu cầu công việc và mang lại hiệu quả cho công ty?
Riêng với công ty vatgia, tôi đã tuyển nhân viên KHÔNG dựa vào những tiêu chí
như: độ tuổi, kinh nghiệm, xuất xứ (học ở đâu ra), thâm niên. Mà tôi dựa vào việc
tôi cần họ làm trong vị trí nào, công việc cụ thể như thế nào và họ có đáp ứng
được hay không. Ví dụ tôi đang cần tuyển một cô nhân viên đánh văn bản thì tôi
chưa chắc đã tuyển một sinh viên ra trường bằng giỏi của một trường kinh tế nào
đó để đánh văn bản.
Nếu được quay lại quãng thời gian thành lập vatgia.com, anh có thấy mình nên chuẩn
bị mọi thứ kỹ lưỡng hơn nữa không?
Với tôi thì không. Tôi không thể chần chừ và ngần ngại trong thời điểm quyết định
thành lập công ty cách đây 3 năm để xem mọi yếu tố của mình đã đủ chưa. Bởi
với sự ra đời của một công ty, mọi sự chuẩn bị không bao giờ là đủ cả. Nếu không

có công ty đầu tiên, làm gì có những công ty tiếp tục được thành lập sau đó. Kho
tôi thành lập công ty vatgia đâu tiên mất 3 năm, thì khi thành lập vatgia thứ hai
mất 3 tháng. Và có lẽ khi thành lập vtagia thứ ba tôi sẽ chỉ mất 3 ngày. Vì sao ư?
Đó là vì mọi thứ nguồn lực đã được chuẩn bị và rút kinh nghệm từ những lần
thành lập trước đó rồi.
Một lời khuyên của anh dành cho các bạn trẻ đang ấp ủ dự định thành lập công ty?
Tôi nghĩ là đừng nên mở rộng công ty vội. Quan trọng là phải xác định mục tiêu rõ
ràng của bản thân mình. Biết cái đích đến của mình. Vì thực ra, công ty chỉ là công
cụ để thực hiện mục tiêu của mình mà thôi. Khi thành lập công ty, phải tạo ra
được giá trị – giá trị mang lại cho xã hội và người tiêu dùng. Để kết quả là họ sẽ
trả tiền cho sản phẩm, dịch vụ mà họ được cung cấp vì họ thấy hài lòng với giá trị
mà mình mang lại cho họ. Một điều cuối cùng là nên đọc nhiều sách. Nhưng là
sách do những người thành công và giàu nhất trên thế giới viết. Đọc sách của họ,
nắm được nguyên lý cơ bản mà họ đã áp dụng thành công và làm theo.
Xin chân thành cảm ơn anh. Chúc anh và công ty vatgia sẽ liên tục phát triển không
ngừng và đem lại nhiều giá trị cho xã hội.
