A six-step approach to conflict resolution Student – Gusev Roman

1. Needs of Roxanne 1. Needs of other employees

a) To work less
b) To get credits for work he have not done a) To get Roxanne to work her part of the job

b) To demonstrate to the manager that

Roxanne is not doing her job

2. Definition of the problem

Roxanne is always late to the work and constantly is trying to get the credits for work she has not
done in front of the manager. Other employees are angry at her, because they do Roxannes work

3. Ideas for solutions

a) Fire Roxanne (party B)
b) Reduce the salary / income of Roxanne (party B)
c) Get to work how she should to work (party A)
d) Ignore everything (party A)
4. Evaluate the solutions for party A 4. Evaluate the solutions for party B
a) Solution 3 - the best one a) Solution 1 – worst
b) Solution 4 – solves only Roxannes b) Solution 2 – ok
point of view
5. Which solution is the best?

Solution 3 – Get to work how she should work, because it will lead to a better performance at work,
Roxanne will not annoy and create difficult situations for her colleagues, will evolve in managers eyes
and will have a hope for a development of her career. Party B – other employees, will have to do their
work, and everyone will work for their amount of work, equally, as should be. In addition, they will not
argue between each other.

6. Decide how and when the solution will be evaluated

I think solution will be evaluated when Roxannes Manager and Employer will see the truth behind their
“work”, that is actually done by their colleagues. I think, that this solution will be based on some serious
talks between employer and Roxanne, as a warning, counting on that fact that she will review her
manner of doing her job.
