INTRODUCTION…
The capacitive transducer is used for measuring the displacement, pressure and
other physical quantities. It is a passive transducer that means it requires external
power for operation. The capacitive transducer works on the principle of
variable capacitances. The capacitance of the capacitive transducer changes
because of many reasons like overlapping of plates, change in distance between the
plates and dielectric constant.

Used EQUIPMENT…
• Oscilloscope
• Paper sheets
• Power supply
• bread board
• Metallic sheets
• Resistances
• Wires
Now we will go to the calcutations process…
Given values are :
• RA=RB=2.2 KΩ
• d=0.5 m
First, we will find the area and then use it to calculate the capacitance:

A=L×W=12.5×8=100cm2=100×10−4m2

Now, the capacitance can be easily calculated by using this formula:

c=8.85×10−12ϵA\D

c=8.85x10-12x3.6x12.5x8x0.5=6.372x10-9 F

Then, we can use capacitance that we just calculated to find T1 and

T2:
T1=0.69(Ra+Rb)c

T1=0.69(2.2+2.2) ×103 x 6.372x10-9=1.93x10-5

T2=0.69(Rb)c

T2=0.69(2.2) ×103 x 6.372x10-9=9.67X10-6

Then, we need to calculate the frequency:

F =1/T1+T2

F = 1/1.93x10-5+9.67 x 10-6=34518.46 Hz
We will keep using the same steps to calculate the rest of the
frequencies according to the thicknesses we have:

D(mm) C (F) F (Hz)

0.5 6.37x10-9 0.0345185

0.0720980533
1 3.05x10-9 5
2 6.11x10-9 0.0360101

3 9.17x10-9 0.0239808

4 1.22x10-8 0.18018

Finally, we will take the frequencies, but we will fix the area and the
only thing that’s going to be changed is the thickness.
