Smoke Control – Positive Pressure
• PP Systems supply air to zones adjacent to fire zone
to create positive pressure in those adjacent zones.
• Results in airflows of high velocity to prevent smoke
from entering adjacent zone.
– Excessive or imbalanced pressure may force smoke
from fire zone into other areas
– Over pressurization between zones can make doors
difficult to open
– PP Systems do not result in smoke removal from
building

countdown completion
• Type 2 – Countdown continues during abort activation. Release occurs when both
the countdown is completed and abort is deactivated
• Type 3 - If abort is active during pre-discharge, release occurs upon abort
deactivation
• Type 4 – Release occurs 10 seconds after abort deactivation.
• Type 5 – Upon abort deactivation, countdown occurs from full programmed
countdown time. Prior to countdown completion, abort activation extends the
countdown time to the programmed length.
• Type 6 - Upon abort deactivation, system operates in “New York City” mode,
which has a 90 second verification delay, then a 30 second countdown time. Prior
to countdown completion, abort activation again extends the countdown time.
During the 120 second verification delay, the system emulated continuous abort
