Langkah 1 1 dari 2

Let A be invertible matrix.

If I + BA−1 is invertible then by Theorem 1.4.6 (I + BA−1 )A is

invertible and its inverse is

((I + BA−1 )A)−1 = A−1 (I + BA−1 )−1 .

Notice that

(I + BA−1 )A = IA + BA−1 A = A + B,

thus A + B is invertible and

(A + B)−1 = A−1 (I + BA−1 )−1 = A−1 + B −1 .

If A + B is invertible then by Theorem 1.4.6 (A + B)A−1 is

invertible and its inverse is

((A + B)A−1 )−1 = (A−1 )−1 (A + B)−1 = A(A + B)−1 .

Notice that

(A + B)A−1 = AA−1 + BA−1 = I + BA−1 ,

thus I + BA−1 is invertible and

(I + BA−1 )−1 = A(A + B)−1 = AB −1 + I.

Therefore, if A is invertible then A + B and I + BA−1 are both

invertible or both not invertible.
