Photography I: Collecting Colors

Mr. Turner
Project Objective
For this project you will gain experience in photographing and adjusting colors in Adobe
Lightroom. Scan your surroundings for images that mimic the colors of the rainbow: red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Look for all different shades and hues of these colors:
light purple, dark purple, bright red, dull red, red-orange, etc. The more you train your eye to
see these colors, the more you will notice them in daily life.

Take at least 6 photos of each of the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and
purple. The subject matter is up to you, but consider interesting compositions: focal point,
balance, value, movement, texture, line. FILL THE FRAME WITH THE COLOR. The more
color you capture in your original picture, the easier it will be to manipulate and look good
in Lightroom.

Instructions: Take 6 photos of each color!

6 Red Photos
6 Orange Photos
6 Yellow Photos
6 Green Photos
6 Blue Photos
6 Purple Photos
That’s 36 photos total!

Using these photos you will practice manipulating color hue and saturation with Lightroom.
This is a very important function in editing vibrant digital photographs. With these photos you
will create and submit an image carousel of properly balanced colors.
