What were the objectives being taught?
Mr. Wray was teaching about angles in his
math class.

Yes, but it wasn’t up on the board. We came
in a little late in the class so I think he might
have showed them at the beginning in his
slide.
What evidence shows the students
understood the objective? Did the students
understand what they were supposed to
accomplish?
Instruction
Briefly describe the parts of the lesson you
observed (beginning, middle, and/or end):
The math class I observed was practicing some
angles and they had a mixture of personal work
time on some problems as well as some class
discussion. What really stood out to me was how
Mr. Wray went out of his way to find some really
good examples of angles used in real life and
showing students how to apply the math in real
life.
What types of strategies did the teacher use to keep
students engaged?
Math class can be tough for that right? But Mr.
Wray knows his students, gives warnings on when
he wants someone to share to let them prepare, and
overall gives students 1-1 time to help if they are
not getting a concept.
Assessment
How were the students assessed based on the
objectives? (What did mastery of the objective
look like?)
Mastery was being able to get the right
answer. I liked how he had several practice
problems first to help students learn and make
mistakes before really testing their knowledge
on a final problem.
Explain how feedback was used during the
period. (ex: formal vs. informal; written vs.
oral; time & frequency)
Most of the feedback I saw from that class was
oral feedback. I didn’t see Wray grading work
or anything, but he was working with students
and even showing them how to do it if they
were really struggling.
How did the teacher use data to adjust the
lesson? (ex: If some students struggled, how

good participation from students. Students
were raising their hands to share their
answers and it wasn’t always the same kids
either.
How was the information presented in a clear
accessible way?
Like I’ve stated above, Wray used some great
pictures and examples to help his students follow
along and understand.

I’m not sure if Wray is tracking data in this
class or for this specific lesson. I’ll have to talk
to him, I’m sure he’s tracking via grades who
needs some extra help.
