KNNL represented by the Executive Engineer, Ghataprabha division has undertaken project

titled as “VLIS”.

The rising main of the project pass through SY. No. _______ of _____ village, which is
coming under notified forest area.

The Principal Secretary, Revenue department, Bangalore was requested to allot alternate
area for forest area in SY. No. _______, of ____________ village, _______ Taluk measuring
_________ areas of total extent of ______ acres, which is a part of land bank.

In response, The Principal Secretary, Revenue department, Bangalore, vide office letter no.
under reference 1, as per Karnataka Land ________ act 20/1/C, has recommended to Govt.
to seek approval/to ask, KNNL to bear 50% of prevailing market cost and other expenses
and transfer the same to forest department, GOK.

The Executive Engineer, KNNL, Ghataprabha Div. No. 5 Koujalgi has accordingly deposited
Rs. ________ vide challan no ____________ and Rs. ___________ vide challan no
___________ in SBI Gokak branch on 2-7-22 and has produced/submitted copies of challans
to this office.

Further, in accordance with Govt. circular no. ______ dated 7-5-22 the alternative lands
transferred for Govt./private use, for afforestation by forest department and to protect and
declare the alternate land as reserved forest area as per Karnataka Forest Act 1963, Article
4, circular may be published and Managing Officer may be appointed.

The said officer after complying with mandatory provisions of schedule 5 to 16 and after
submissions of relevant proceedings the Govt., may/will declare area as reserved forest vide
schedule.

This being a lengthy process, an alternative land vide Karnataka Forest Act 1963 Article 33,
permits declaration of alterative land as reserved forest area.

The concerned Deputy Commissioners of concerned districts need to validate and authorize
declaration of such lands as reserved forest areas. Subsequently, forest department, vide
Karnataka Forest Act 1963 Article 33, may declare change in the status of the land from
reserved/protected forest to non-afforestation utilization of such land so that concerned DC’s
can publish circulars pertaining to particular SY. No. _____to be categorized as
reserved/protected forest and accordingly assist forest officer conservator of concerned
division, vide Karnataka Revenue Act 1864 Article 71 can submit proposal to Govt.

The Principal Secretary of forest and revenue department in their circulars have declared
that raising main of VLIS passing through SY. No. ____________ of ______________ village
(forest land) and alternative area at measuring 14 acres in SY. No _________ of ______
village has been withdrawn from land bank and vide Karnataka Revenue Act 1864 Article 71,
same has been included in reserved forest area.
