Sir,

Subject :_________________________________________________________________

We hereby write to put on records that the nature’s fury/incessant rains have put us into hardships
which cannot be put into words to explain our plight in toto & we are falling short of words.

Even a commoner is in the know of damages caused by inundation and floods to individual and
personal properties, public properties including and not just limited to infrastructure, etc.

However the plight of civil engineering contractors like us, very rarely come on the records.

We are trying to put our hardships on records for your kind perusal and also seek suitable
help/compensation.

The work under subject which has been awarded to us is under progress. As the work spot falls
within the backwater area of a barrage the work has some special features included in the scope of
work like;

1. Coffer dams
2. Flagging concrete
3. Approach roads, etc.

It is important to put it on records that contractor gets onetime payment for such items of work.
However the nature’s fury like the present one washes away such facilities totally, making it
impossible for contractor to recoup the same, with the certain minor repairs.
The only alternative being is to create such facilities again by rebuilding the same, for executing
works to precede, once the rain’s fury stops. It cannot be expected that the contractor must spend
from his pocket to rebuild such facilities that have been damaged by nature’s fury. Hence, the extent
of losses caused by nature’s fury, damaging such facilitates must be evaluated in a just manner and
the contractor must be suitably compensated.

We will submit a statement, elaborating such losses separately.

Further photographs exhibiting said losses are submitted for ready reference.

Sir, it is to put on the records that staging, centring, shuttering, bar bending works for casting the
slab between the pier no. 5 to pier no. 6, was under progress when nature’s fury struck the site. All
said preparations have disappeared in total and all such temporary works along with relevant
material have been washed away. An account of losses incurred due to this event will be submitted
shortly.

Apart from this a number of construction equipments which were on site (like excavator, generator,
crane, welding equipment, ready mix concrete machine, transit mixer, etc.) have either been
inundated and require huge repairs & over hauling cost, etc. or have been washed away. So also,
consumable materials stacked at site like sand, aggregates, cement, HYSD bars has been washed
away and are lost.

The details of same will be submitted the flood recedes.

A statement of account showing such damages will be submitted after correct assessment, once
water level recedes.

Further, heavy losses will have been incurred due to idling of men and machinery for a period
related to inundation, receding of floods putting the system in force.

As of now, fearing water borne epidemic diseases, people have been demobilised from the site.

The above situation explains the grave condition to which we have been subjected due to force-de
major. As of now, the works at site has come to grinding hault and can be resumed only when the
situation normalises.

We request you to kindly look into the matter and compensate us suitably as a social justice and
oblige.
Thanking you.
