Senior RAN Planning Engineer
SYSTEL Telecom, Smart Village, Giza, Egypt (May 2013 to present)
Responsible for planning different radio networks like TETRA, DMR, and Astro
With following duties:
▪ Propagation model calibration using CW measurements delivered from
drive test engineer.
▪ Calculate coverage prediction for potential new sites by calculating link
budget using all possible losses in cabinet from cables, jumpers, connectors,
and combiner besides Tx. and rx. antenna gain, receiver sensitivity, and
cabinet transmitting power
▪ Put nominal coverage dimensioning planning to achieve the customer
requirements with low CAPEX, and OPEX.
▪ Calculate minimum number of radio unites (RUs) to handle expected traffics
(capacity dimensioning using Erlang Tables).
▪ Put frequency assessment to all radio units with acceptable C/I ratios to
avoid co-channel interference and adjacent channel interference.
▪ Doing intermodulation interference check between frequencies assigned to
radio units (RUs) in same site
▪ Define neighbors to new sites beside color code planning between neighbor
sites.
▪ Enhance on air sites by modifying tower height, Antenna gain, transmitted
power, etc.
▪ Studying reasons of problems appearing in on air sites like congestions or
interference or ping pong hand over, and suggest solutions to solve these
problems like capacity extension, frequency replanning or justify network
parameters, etc.
RF Planning Software Experience:
TEOCO ASSET 8.3 Enterprise, Softwright TAP 7, and Atoll 3.3.

prediction and specify every site technical specification.

between metro stations

planning to achieve 100% reliable tetra coverage along the LRT line.
