You know that feeling when you reach into your pocket for your mobile and get that immediate
hot shock and great panic when it is not there , you heart beats rapidly , your stomach lurches ..Well
you have just experienced Nomophobia or NO Mobile Phobia. This term was coined in Britain in
2007. It describes a feeling of fear and anxiety because of not having access to a working cell phone.
Anyone can suffer from nomophobia. However, this disorder tends to affect the youths the most.
Nomophobia has a lot in common with smartphone addiction. Nomophobes and smartphone
addicts spend a lot of time on their devices. It is true that smart phones are an integral part of our daily
lives. They are no longer used for making calls and sending text messages. They have now become our
source of entertainment, our social network tool, our access to world news, our camera, alarm clock
and calendar . But the excessive usage of cell phones leads to negative effects like stress, anxiety,
depression, isolation ,sleep disturbance and relationship issues.
The signs that are observed in nomophibia cases include panic attacks ( shaking, feeling dizzy,
troubles in breathing) if you are detached from your smart phone , inability to turn off your cell
phone, taking your phone with you everywhere, repeatedly checking to make sure that you have your
phone .
There are several ways to help a person with nomophobia, and one of them is to use technology.
Using social fever application can help you to overcome this issue. This amazing application lets you
use your phone for a confined time and limit your daily usage of smartphone.
