The interviewer: good morning. My name is Ahmed Fettah. I am a reporter, and I work for “daily
messenger”. May I ask you a few questions
The interviewee: Certainly!
The interviewer: Thank you. Tell me, do you like reading?
The interviewee: Yes, I do. I’m keen on reading
The interviewer: Interesting! Now, how often do you read?
The interviewee: I usually read books.
The interviewer: Fine, what sort of books do you usually read?
The interviewee: well, I prefer reading historical books. This type of books makes us aware about our
past and develops the ability to avoid mistakes and create better paths for our societies.
The interviewer: I see, and why do you think that reading is important?
The interviewee: Let me think. Reading is one of the best ways to help people understand something
without necessarily having to experience it for themselves. Besides, it is essential to improve vocabulary,
communication and grammar skills.
The interview :
The journalist: Good morning everyone, this is Muna Busamra in another episode from our radio
interview “everyday knowledge”. Today I am pleased to welcome the Arab Reading Challenge
Champion for 2022 “Sham Albakour”.
Sham: Thank you, Mrs. Muna. I am happy to be here as well. I am excited to start this radio interview
with you on board.
The journalist: How are you, Sham?
Sham: I am fine, thank you!
The journalist: Well, may I ask you a few questions?
Sham: please do!
The journalist: Dear Sham, what is reading for you?
Sham: for me, reading is an important skill. It is a part of my everyday life.
The journalist: Great! When did you start reading?
‘ Sham: I started reading since I was 6 years old thanks to my amazing mother. I began with short stories
for kids then I developed my skills and started reading more and more.
The journalist: Well, how many books have you read so far?
Sham: I have read over 70 books and I want to read as many books as possible.
The journalist: Quite interesting! Now, which kind of books do you usually read?
Sham: Well, I like reading Biographical books of our prophet (pbuh).
The journalist: Awesome! And how much time do you spend reading?
Sham: I read for three hours per day.
The journalist: do you like paper books or e- books?
Sham: I really enjoy reading paper books because of their smells. Besides, holding a book is more
pleasant than holding electronic devices.
The journalist: And as a last word, what would you advise children of your age?
Sham: I advise them to read because they will be successful as long as they read.
