 1. Identify the modes of transport DHL uses.

If you would analyze the context of the case, DHL basically uses multimodal transport or
Intermodal Carriers. Mentioned above is how DHL guaranteed to provide effective and
efficient logistics services through the use of their massive volume of trucks which
indicates that DHL probably uses motor carriers as a widely used mode of transportation
for the land category in the domestic supply chain. Other than that, DHL mentioned
their use of their planes, as Thailand is accessible from China by land. Since planes are
already in the context, then it might be safe to assume that DHL also uses air carriers.

2. Analyze and describe the clause/s of Incoterms involved in the delivery service of
Shopee to their customers.

As a former loyal customer of Shopee Philippines, I may have experienced the clauses
that are involved in terms of the delivery service of Shopee to us, their consumers. The
first clause that I have been familiar and encountered with Shopee is the FCA or Free
Carrier. Usually, the seller delivers the goods to the carrier preferred by the buyer, in a
predetermined place. This was way before Shopee updated its application and policies.
Consumers have the power to choose which delivery courier would they want to carry
their loads whether J&T Express, Standard Delivery, Ninja Van, or Go Express for the
local and Standard International or Economy Delivery for the international category.
However, with their new policies, I could safely assume that Shopee is now using the
EXW or the Ex Works. Alongside with their new policy, Shopee merchandise is made
available to the buyer and seller’s premises. In here, the buyer is responsible and is
required to pay for delivery payment or what the millennials call as shipping fee as a
payment for the transport and cost of insurance of their loads or goods being delivered.

 3. Propose an optimal and cost-efficient transport mode/s for DHL in conveying goods

from China to Thailand.

If I were to propose an optimal and most cost-efficient transport mode for DHL to convey
foods from China to Thailand it is through the use of Motor Carriers. As mentioned in
the case study, Thailand is accessible from China by land, and vice versa. It is fairly
reasonable to propose this transport mode as it would be the most beneficial and
flexible type of transport for the situation. Door-to-door deliveries can be offered and
can be even used for small-volume goods to many delivery locations in the vicinity.
