Library Rules and Regulations

You are most welcome to Hope Haven School Library!

All library users must observe the Library Rules and
Regulations.
The Librarian is authorized to
withhold library privileges from users who do not
comply with any of the following rules and regulations.

1. All students checking out any library item must show the student ID at the circulation
desk.
2. The library is not a social gathering place it is a place to find a good book to read,
research, study and finish class assignments.
3. Ask if you need help to locate any information material to aid in your research.
4. Always listen and be respectful to the librarian/ teacher in charge at the library.

5. Silence is to be observed while in the library all the time. Noncompliance to this is an
offence and liable to punishment.
6. Tablets are strictly for academic work only. no mailing, chatting, playing games,
downloading movies and videos that are non-academic related.
7. Do not take any library item out of the library without following the borrowing
procedures.
8. Make sure the borrowed items are returned by the due date to avoid penalties. No further
loans/borrowing of any kind will be made to the borrower who has other pending item(s)
in his possession which he/she has failed to return in response to the recall notice.
9. Consumption of food and drinks are strictly forbidden in the library.
10. The library makes every effort to provide timely, accurate information by using
dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, online resources, and other reference materials
however such books are intended for in-library use only and do not circulate.
11. Books are borrowed out of the library by students for five days and they may be renewed,
if not reserved. staff can borrow books for two weeks.
12. Borrowing privileges shall be withdrawn if a library user develops a tendency of
overstaying with a book and/or any other item.
13. All the bags and water bottles should be placed at the luggage area.
14. Loss, Damage or Deface of library books will lead to the disciplinary action
15. Students are not allowed to lend any library item to one another, only the librarian
reserves the right to loan the library items.
16. Theft of any kind in the library will lead to a serious disciplinary measure.
17. The library management accepts no responsibility for personal belongings left in the
library whatsoever.
18. Shelving of books is strictly done by the librarian. Students are supposed to leave books
on the table after use.
19. No student is allowed to carry any furniture outside the library. The unnecessary
movement of these furniture’s is strictly not allowed. however, any need expressed for
borrowing furniture must be through the approval of the librarian or any competent
Hope Haven Staff.
20. Students violating the above rules may be asked to leave the library for a given period
or restricted from using the library other than when accompanied by a teacher for a
designated period of time.
