A FIRE

It was already late evening by the time we just finished cooking

dinner. The rain had not stopped since afternoon, and everyone
was getting increasingly worried.

We were just about to eat our dinner when the lightning flashed,
and our home immediately went dark. All of us sat still, hands
scrambling to find the other in the absence of the light. Not soon
before long, we heard someone shouting for help.

We turned on the flashlights without phones and headed outside,

and we saw our neighbours house on fire due to the previous
lightning. My mother called the fire department while my father
and the rest of the neighbours helped to get the victims out.

Thankfully, the fireman came about 5 minutes later and managed

to put the fire out. Even though the family had lost some valuables,
they were grateful and glad that everyone was safe and alive.
