Over the years, the factors for stress and trauma have increased
exponentially; from school life to work life. The majority of people are still
blissfully unaware about their own mental illnesses and have been living
undiagnosed for years, some are even scared to speak out in fear of being
shunned by society. Often, those who do are ignored or their concerns
are brushed off as nothing more than minor inconveniences.
This not only leads to internal conflicts, but also is a cause for external
issues. Not just in one’s personal life, but also in their external life. This
leads to people feeling insecure about themselves, their relationships and
the people around them, which ends up creating a loop of stress and
trauma. Addressing these issues, receiving proper help and ultimately
therapy can help one break free of this loop and not only feel more
confident but get their life back on track. So, breaking past this mental
stigma is extremely important.
(Shitty video, person has some kinda mental issue, is refused help, gets
help, feels better = life good)

The video above is a perfect example of why destigmatizing mental health
should be of the utmost importance. However, mental health issues,
despite being over looked are often also romanticized. People nowadays
think that claiming that they have a certain illness or disorder is seen as
cool or popular. This leads to a negative image associated with said illness
and disorder amongst the vast majority of people. As it shapes the way
people view such issues, further stopping people from getting the help
they need.
People start to believe that having mental issues or disorders is
something that everyone goes through and unfortunately, many people
fall prey to this mindset, ironically developing said issue further down in
their life. One such case would be depression. Depression is romanticized
to the point where people start to believe that being depressed is
common, throwing the phrase around and actually undermining the
millions of people that may genuinely have depression.

Mental health is something that has been the centre of controversy for
years. However, in the modern day and age these stigmas are changing.
Helping people feel more confident in not just themselves, but their life
and people around them. Changing people’s opinions and views is not
easy, but is surely something that should be done to ensure that in this
day and age, no one is left struggling and alone. Helping those in need,
destigmatizing problems and most of all, lending a hand to eachother are
of the utmost importance.
Many studies have been conducted on mental health, its effects and how
to deal with them. Bringing all these issues into the limelight and ensuring
that no one is alone can all help broaden our horizons.
