Who deserves your biggest heart?
DISCUSSION
Measures of position can be obtained
through the following tools:
• QUARTILE
• DECILE
• PERCENTILE
EXAMPLE
A group of students obtained the following scores in their Math quiz:
8, 2, 5, 4, 8, 5, 7, 1, 3, 6, 9
𝑸𝟏
𝑸 𝟐 𝑸
𝟑
We don’t look for the at all because its obviously the last number.
In getting the four main quartiles we simply follow this formula.
Interquartile range can be solved through subtracting the 3rd quartile value and 1st quartile value.
QUESTIONS
What are the three ways of measuring positions of the data?
Each group will form a line and you will arrange yourself according to the
category that I will provide, for example “arrange yourself according to height, or
age or skin complexion, etc”.
After that I will a by raising the flaglet that I will give to you. The first to raise the
flag and identify correctly will earn a point.
Activity
In a one half lengthwise you write numbers one to ten. I will provide
names to be seen in the flash cards I am holding. Write down where
you will write the name; on the number one if the person is very
close to you or to the number ten to be not so close you.
Activity
Using the same groupings at the game we had. We will have a quiz bee. The score
of the group will be the score to be recorded individually.
