The Book of Acts: A Perfect Manual for Evangelism

WHAT A GREAT responsibility we have to spread the Good News of salvation to as many people
as possible (Mk 16:15; Matt 28:18-19). For this reason, we thank God for giving us the book of Acts!
The book of Acts serves us as a perfect manual for evangelism because it tells us WHAT, WHERE,
WHY and WHEN to preach the powerful message of salvation. Today, we will examine two more
reasons why you and I should read the book of Acts to learn how to reach out to people with the
gospel.
Reason # 5: The book of Acts is a perfect handbook on evangelism because it tells us HOW we
must preach the gospel. As Christians we are to preach the gospel with a sense of urgency. In Acts
8:26-39 we read about the conversion of a man from Ethiopia, who was an eunuch. We are told that
an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip and gave him a command to go and preach the gospel to this
man. In Acts 8:27 and 30, we learn how Philip the evangelist arose and ran to this man to share the
gospel. By the fact that he arose and ran, we see the sense of urgency from his part. Brethren, we
are to do the same thing. Also, the fact that the early Christians preached the gospel even in the
midst of persecution helps us to understand that they acknowledge a sense of urgency to preach
the gospel (Acts 8:4). How are we to preach the gospel? The answer is simple: with a sense of ur-
gency, and with much love and care for the lost souls of this world.
Reason # 6: The book of Acts is a perfect handbook on evangelism because it tells us WHO is to
preach the gospel. The command to preach the gospel was not given to the world, Satan, non-
Christians, but to faithful followers of Christ (Mk 16:15; Matt 28:18-20). The gospel is to be preached
by those who have taken the Great Commission seriously. The book of Acts shows that the respon-
sibility to preach the gospel is not only for the Apostles, but for every member of the Body of
Christ. In Acts 8:1-4, we see the Church going forth and preaching the gospel. In this context, the
Apostles stayed in Jerusalem, as the faithful Church went everywhere preaching the Word. This is
one more reason why the book of Acts is a perfect handbook on evangelism—It reminds us of our
responsibility to preach. May God help us to be obedient to the command to take the gospel to the
whole world!

QUÉ GRAN responsabilidad tenemos para difundir la Buena Nueva de la salvación a tantas perso-
nas como sea posible (Marcos 16:15, Mateo 28: 18-19). Por esta razón, ¡gracias a Dios por darnos el
libro de Hechos! El libro de Hechos nos sirve como un manual perfecto para el evangelismo porque
nos dice QUÉ, DÓNDE, POR QUÉ Y CUÁNDO predicar el poderoso mensaje de salvación. Hoy,
examinaremos otras dos razones por las cuales usted y yo deberíamos leer el libro de Hechos para
aprender cómo llegar a las personas con el evangelio.
Razón # 5: El libro de Hechos es un manual perfecto sobre evangelismo porque nos dice CÓMO
debemos predicar el evangelio. Como Cristianos debemos predicar el evangelio con un sentido de
urgencia. En Hechos 8:26-39 leemos acerca de la conversión de un hombre de Etiopía, que era un
eunuco. Se nos dice que un ángel del Señor habló a Felipe y le dio un mandato para ir y predicar el
evangelio a este hombre. En Hechos 8:27 y 30, aprendemos cómo se levantó el evangelista Felipe y
corrió a este hombre para compartir el evangelio. Por el hecho de que se levantó y corrió, vemos la
sensación de urgencia de su parte. Hermanos, debemos hacer lo mismo. Además, el hecho de que
los primeros Cristianos predicaron el evangelio incluso en medio de la persecución nos ayuda a
comprender que reconocieron un sentido de urgencia para predicar el evangelio (Hechos 8:4).
¿Cómo debemos predicar el evangelio? La respuesta es simple: con un sentido de urgencia, y con
mucho amor y cuidado por las almas perdidas de este mundo.
Razón # 6: El libro de Hechos es un manual perfecto sobre evangelismo porque nos dice QUIÉN
debe predicar el evangelio. El mandamiento de predicar el evangelio no fue dado al mundo, Sata-
nás, no cristianos, sino a fieles seguidores de Cristo (Mc 16:15, Mateo 28: 18-20). El evangelio debe
ser predicado por aquellos que han tomado la Gran Comisión en serio. El libro de Hechos muestra
que la responsabilidad de predicar el evangelio no es sólo para los Apóstoles, sino para cada miem-
bro del Cuerpo de Cristo. En Hechos 8:1-4 vemos a la Iglesia salir y predicar el evangelio. En este
contexto, los Apóstoles permanecieron en Jerusalén, mientras que la Iglesia fiel fue por todas partes
predicando la Palabra. Esta es una razón más por la cual el libro de Hechos es un manual perfecto
sobre evangelismo—nos recuerda nuestra responsabilidad de predicar. ¡Que Dios nos ayude a ser
