A NEW TRANSFORMATIONAL
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COURSE
FOR SOCIAL LEADERS OF THE
FUTURE CREATED BY AN
EXPERIENCED UK TEAM
The GSL Accelerator is an opportunity for graduates of the GSL Catalyst course to take
the next step to elevate the impact of their social action projects.
Students will gain new skills (including leadership, community building, mapping impact and
storytelling), form meaningful connections, be inspired by the change that they can make
and take action to support their community and environment.

Schools are invited to share the course
with their students so that they can
book directly using the GSL online shop.
Once we have received payment, they
will be sent a registration form and their
place on the course will be confirmed.

before they start. Early bird prices end
3 weeks before that.
INDEPENDENT
CHALLENGE
The 60-day independent challenge
takes place after the GSL Accelerator.
It is an opportunity for the students to
use key learnings from the course to
develop their project, set goals that are
both challenging and realistic, and ensure
their project has a wider impact on their
community and/or environment.
Students will be required to submit a
summary of their challenge, alongside
any relevant evidence including pictures,
written reflections and/or a creative piece
to showcase their GSL journey.
3-DAY
ACCELERATOR
The three-day GSL Accelerator equips
students with the tools and resources
needed to elevate the impact that their
existing social action projects have in
their communities. This interactive online
course is delivered in English and led by
experienced UK-based facilitators, who
prepare students to lead, collaborate and
inspire others to be part of the change
that they are advocating for.

**There are two time zone options for the three-day course.
Students will be asked to select one option for all three days

CELEBRATION
& CERTIFICATES
A virtual graduation celebration event
will be held to showcase what students
have learnt and accomplished during
the course. It will also include panels
and offer an opportunity to hear from
students about the change that they
have created. E-certificates will be
awarded following the event.

08:00 15:00 Welcome – The lead coaches will introduce the course and provide a space for each student to
introduce themselves.

09:00 16:00 Guest Speaker – An interactive and practical session led by a special guest who will share their
journey in leading change in their communities via social action.

10:00 17:00 Leading Change – Students will build on leadership skills gained on the GSL Catalyst course,
focusing on how to influence change as a leader and build a supportive community around them.

11:00 18:00 Collective Wellbeing – Students will learn about collective wellbeing, think about how
they can prioritise their health whilst working on their project, and listen actively to other
perspectives and ideas.

SESSIONS DAY 2 – Sat 29th OCT

AM PM The Impact of Social Action
08:00 15:00 Understanding Need – This session explores the importance of assessing the urgency to take
action in addressing an issue present with their community. Students will be introduced to a needs
assessment model which will encourage them to research and gather insights into the issue that
they are focusing on and to seek a range of perspectives from multiple and varied sources.

09:00 16:00 Mapping Impact – This session will involve an introduction to the social impact framework,
creating their own impact roadmap and gaining in-depth insights into how they can embed
impact techniques as part of their projects.

10:00 17:00 The Power of Storytelling – Students will learn how storytelling can support to promote projects,
raise awareness of issues, and collaborate with peers and experts using a variety of digital
environments and media.

11:00 18:00  eflection Circle – Students will learn key reflection techniques, how to implement them,

and how to run their own reflection circles. They will reflect on their key learnings and find
out how they can practice strategies to develop mental focus.

 SESSIONS DAY 3 – Sun 30th OCT
AM PM Leading with a Plan
08:00 15:00 The Independent Challenge – This session will provide an overview of the independent challenge,
what each phase consists of and how to get their projects started. Examples of past GSL projects and
the topics that have been addressed will be covered to inspire each participant as they begin to plan
for their projects.

09:00 16:00 Action Planning – The main aim of this session is to provide each student with the skills to plan their
next steps and identify the key areas that they will be focusing on during the first few weeks of their
independent challenge. They will be re-introduced to the SPRING model which will provide a space for
them to reflect on the key aspects of the challenge that they need to consider when working through
their projects.

10:00 17:00 Community Building – A key part of the independent challenge consists of networking and building
key support networks within their community. It will involve students creating a sense of community
around them who can support them throughout the project. This session will cover community
building approaches and a toolkit that they can apply to their projects.

and ask questions about the independent challenge itself.

The three-day GSL Catalyst equips

their passions to advocate and create
