Our client is the R Family. They consist of 3 members. Mr. DJ R, father, was born on May 8,
1989. Ms. RA R, the mother, was born on August 29, 1990. Their only child, LJ R, was born on
April 7, 2009. Mr. DJ R is the main provider for the family because most of the income comes
from him as the Ms. RA verbalized, “siya lang ang nagtatrabaho sa amin, kami naman ng anak
ko ay nandito lang sa bahay.”

The family came from Cagayan Valley and just moved to 76 Bry 36 Zone 4 Marulas Caloocan
City last June 2011 The mother is the decision maker which is considered as matriarchal
authority. When it comes to solving the problems both of the participate to solve out the
problem as se verbalized “Ako ang laging nasusunod dito sa bahay pero kapag may problema
kami ay pinag-uusapan namin ito ng aking asawa.” They all live in the same house which means
that they are a nuclear family.

The language spoken in their house is Ilokano and Tagalog The mother verbalized “Tagalog
kami dito sa bahay pero minsan ay Ilokano dail nga Ilokano kami.” The mother verbalized “Close
kami ng asawa ko kahit na misan ay pang-gabi siya. Nagsasabihan naman kami ng mga
problema sa isa’t isa.” When there are unexpected events they are able to cope up with the
change that is happening as the mother verbalized “Kagaya noong naghanap ung asawa ko ng
trabaho, sumama na rin kai dito sa maynila.”

In the R Family, there are only 3 members. The father, Mr. DJ is an HRM graduate while
th mother, Ms. RA, is a 2nd year college undergraduate. The mother verbalized “Tumigil ako sa
pag-aaral dahil nabuntis ako noong second year, first sem.” Their child, LJ, is not yet studying.
The father works as a secutiry guard in Tandang Sora, Quezon City and his monthly income is
P13,000. Then when asked if the income of the family to meet the basic necessities, Ms. RA
verbalized, “Ok lang naman ang kinikita ng aking asawa para sa mga gastusin naming para sa
pang-araw araw.” She is also the one who decides on how to budget their money.

The family are Ilokanos and their religion is Methodist. They have certain beliefs when it
comes to their own health like hilot. The mother verbalized, “Kapag may nagkakasakit, dinadala
muna naming sa manghihilot dahil baka may pilay lang pero kapag hindi pa rin nawala,
pumupunta na kami agad sa doctor para magpacheck-up.” Then when they have problems,
they talk it out first in their family and then if not, they seek help to Beverly, the mother of the
other family living in their house,

They do not participate in any community activities. “Hindi kami sumasali sa mga activity
sa barangay. Dito rin lang kami sa bahay dahil hindi naman kami naglalalabas. Kung lalabas man
kami, dito lang sa kapit-bahay at saka bago pa nga lang kami dito kaya di pa namin alam ang
ibang activity sa barangay.” as the mother vebalized.

C. Home Environment
The house is three bedrooms and built mainly from concrete materials and wood. The R
family stays in only of the rooms in the house. They have been living in the house for only three
months. The family sleeps on a banig and uses bed nets at nights. They get their mineral water
for drinking delivered once a week. The toilet has no flush disposal and the mother verbalized,
“de buhos yung toilet.” There is a “gripo” faucet insided the house and leaves the floor wet.
They use it for bathing and washing clothes. The garbage is collected in one bag and thrown
out every day. They do not separate the plastic from their thrash. There are presence of
rodents and cockroaches inside the house. The house is in a congested neighborhood with
houses next to each other. The family does not participates in any of the barangay health and
social activities because they explained that “kasi bago lang kami dito.” The mother walks
around as a walk of transportation around her neighborhood and also uses the jeep.

D. Health Status of Each Member

The mother verbalized, “healthy lahat kami dito sa bahay.” She stated that most of her
records are in her hometown in Cagayan de Valley. According to the mother, “ asawa ko at ako
ay hindi pa na immunization kasi hindi uso yung dati, pero yung anak ko completo.” All
members of the family eat three times a day. The mother stated, “karne, isda, gulay and lagi
naming kinakain.” The mother said she drinks more than the usual amount of 8 glasses
because it gets really hot in her house. She does not know the amount of water intake her
husband goes through in a daily basis. Her son drinks 3-4 glasses a day stated by the mother.
The family was instructed to record their schedule of sleep. The family lives in a non smoking
house and all the members don’t practice cigarette/tobacco smoking. The husband although
drinks alcohol. The mother verbalized, “minsan umiinom ang asawa ko.” The husband cannot
be scheduled for a physical assessment due to his work schedule. The mother and her son have
not taking the physical exam. They are schedule for a follow up visit for physical examination
and MMDST.

E. Values, Beliefs, Practices in Health Promotion, Maintenance and Disease Prevention

Based on the mother, LJ has complete immunizations but the card is in Cagayan Valley.
She verbalized, “Kumpleto si LJ ng mga immunizations simula 1 month hanggang 9 months. Di
ko masyado maalala kung ano-ano yung mga iyon pero kumpleto siya. Then the mother and
father don’t have immunizations. They sleep at 10pm and wakes up at 7am. The mother said
that their sleep is enough for them to function the whole day. Their daily activities is doing
household chores like washing the clothes, ironing and sweeping the floor. They are not always
wearing their slippers even their son, LJ. They use bed nets and sleep at a “banig.” The mother
verbalized, “Bago nga lang kami dito kaya wala pang kutson yung kwarto naming, sa banig kang
kami natutulog.” Their relaxation activity is to watch television together and sometimes they go
to SM so that they can bond. The mother verbalized, “Pumupunta lang kami sa SM kapag sahod
ng aking asawa para ipasyal itong si LJ.” They don’t have any health card because they are just
new to the community.
