Statement of Purpose

The society we know today, owes much of its charm to computers and other information
technologies. This is particularly true for the field of business and management. In this era of
digital and technological advancement, only information management and using the best tools to
maintain those informative functions can help an organization to stay atop the competition. I had
always been amazed by this intense responsibly and power of information systems and as so I
wanted to become someone who could manage and overlook all the computer and technology
related activities in an attempt to lead an organization to its success.
However, life does not always go as planned. Even though, I studied business as a major in my
secondary and higher secondary years, I found out that only a handful of universities offered a
degree in Information System Management and only science majors were allowed to enroll into
those courses. As a result, I decided to study in a field which could assist me the most in my
quest. I finished my undergraduate in English for Speakers of Other Languages from the most
prestigious university of my country. During this period, I focused my attention into learning
research works and other information management related tools from my professors. I also learnt
some additional courses related to computer and technology out of self-interest.
Since, I couldn’t do a bachelor on Information Systems, I looked for my next possible option
which is to complete a master's and a doctoral degree in the field of Information Systems. I
looked for a course which would incorporate information system and business and luckily found
MBA in Information System. This course would let me walk through the foundation to expert
level understanding of information system required in a business organization. Furthermore, I
would have the chance to pursue a doctoral degree to enrich my understanding by doing in depth
research study. Besides, this master’s course would give me the opportunity to explore the
practical world through fieldwork and internship opportunity.
I decided to obtain a foreign degree due to the fact that it will help me significantly in my quest.
My long-term career goal is to become an information systems director. To obtain that goal, I
intend to return to my country in order to implement the knowledge in a practical field
Immediately after the completion of my doctoral degree. I expect to be employed as a junior
information system manager in one of the named business and non-profit organizations like
Optimizely, Quantanite, Le Meridien, Save th Children etc.
As a student who doesn’t hold a bachelor in Information Systems, I tried looking for a suitable
institution which would not only allow me to enroll into an MBA degree in Information System
but also introduce me to the basic path of Information system beforehand with their foundation
courses. I was finally able to find San Francisco State University, a branch of California State
University system who offered MBA degree in Information Systems. Their curriculum and focus
on practical application amazed me. I strongly believe that I’ll have a good opportunity to realize
my dream by accumulating necessary knowledge and experience gained during my time at this
campus. Besides, the campus is situated in such an environment which is very suitable for me.
To sum up, I am confident that I will not only be able to successfully complete my master’s
degree with good grades but also follow up with an excellent doctoral degree afterwards. This
would allow me to gain a vast amount of practical experiences which and help me to become the
person I aspire to be.
