Gender discrimination or sexism is prejudice or discrimination based on one’s sex
or gender. Sexism can affect anyone, but it primarily affects women and girls. It has been
linked to stereotypes and gender roles, and may include the belief that one sex or gender
is intrinsically superior to another. A person’s perception of the relevant circumstances
can influence can influence the extent to which they qualify as sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is any unpleasant act (weather if it’s verbal or physical) that is
triggered by a person’s sex or gender. For teachers, staff, including administrators and
professional personnel, as well as classified staff, grievance mechanisms created in
accordance with the principles of due process have been put into place. Most people
don’t truly get gender construction until they start to really investigate it; they can’t see
how it plays such a significant role in our society, especially now since it feels like
everyone is trying to observe and categorize you. I have definitely changed the way I
view things as a result of the readings we have doing.
People are divided into many different categories in society, much as only
specific groups are granted certain rights. Some people believe that because we don’t see
it as frequently as we formerly did, gender discrimination doesn’t happen anymore, but
work, school, participating in sports, or even just hanging out with your friends. The
reasons for gender discrimination are numerous. Illiteracy must be the first. People
continue to live in the past when they don’t educate themselves. As a result, they adhere
to outdated, sexist practices and standards. This perspective can be changed through
education because more educated people are less likely to engaged in gender
discrimination.
For the same amount of work, men are paid more than women. Furthermore, older
women are more likely to become homeless than younger man. It also affects indigenous
women because their circumstances are so much worse, it also affects indigenous women.
They are 11 times more likely that males to pass away from familial violence. It has no
benefit for men because it imposes strict requirements on them.
Gender discrimination must be checked at every stage so that no person should be
denied a chance to learn and grow. Thus, everyone, no
matter male or female, must get a start in life in terms of educations and other
opportunities. We must come together as a society to do this.
