THEME 1

GENDER INEQUALITY IN WORKPLACE

Despite decades of progressive efforts, there’s still a great
deal of inequality in workplaces across the country.
The social problem of gender inequality is experienced
within different types of workplaces. This problem is
observed, when women are not provided with equal rights and
opportunities as compared to their male counterparts. The
male employees are regarded as more capable. On the other
hand, women are discriminated against on the basis of number
of factors. The job duties, promotional opportunities and pay
are regarded as vital factors in terms of which they experience
discriminatory treatment.

After education, the equality of rights at work provide one of

the key means for achieving independence, economic security
and well-being, status, a sense of professional
accomplishment and personal growth. As we have seen,
historically women’s roles have been seen to be more focused
on the domestic sphere, but women are now playing a more
significant role in the workplace.
THEME 2
INEQUALITY IN EDUCATION
In educational institutions, gender inequality has been
experienced. Girls and trans childeren have been
discriminated against in terms of various aspects as compared
to their male counterparts. The primary aspect in terms of
gender inequality has been experienced is in participation.
The students are required to participate in number of areas in
educational institutions. Girls were provided with less
participation opportunities as compared to their male
counterparts and hence, it led to prevalence of gender
inequality. In rural communities, this problem has been more
severe as compared to urban communities. Gender inequality
in education is regarded as the major impediment within the
course of overall progression of the system of education.
Therefore, it is vital to formulate measures and programs that
are focused upon making provision of equal rights and
opportunities to girls, not only within the course of acquisition
of education, but also in the implementation of other job
duties.
REPORT
A gender-equal society would be one where the word ‘gender’ does not exist:
where everyone can be themselves. – Gloria Steinem.
Gender inequality is the social phenomenon in which men and women are not
treated equally.  IT is discrimination on the basis of sex or gender causing one
sex or gender to be routinely privileged or prioritized over another. Gender
DISCRIMINATION is a pressing issue in Indian society. Despite a constitution
that guarantees equal rights for men and women and decades of legislation,
some deep-rooted gender discrimination in India takes a brutal toll on women’s
lives. Even after rapid economic growth, gender disparities remain all too
familiar: 1,000 girls die each day before reaching the age of five due to neglect..
Some specific examples of gender discrimination in India include:

Unequal pay: Women in India often earn less than men for doing the same
work, and they are also underrepresented in higher-paying jobs. According to
the World Inequality Report 2022, men in India earn 82% of the labour income
while the share of women’s earnings stands at a mere 18%.

Violence against women: Violence against women is a major problem in India.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, there were over 371 503
reported cases of violence against women in India in 2020. This includes cases
of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse.

Health care discrimination: Health care discrimination is a serious issue that

affects many women in India. Women may have difficulty accessing quality
health care due to a number of factors, including poverty, lack of education, and
lack of access to transportation. In addition, women in India are often more
likely to experience discrimination and mistreatment when
seeking medical treatment, which can further discourage them from seeking the
care they need.

Restrictions on women’s freedom: Women in India face numerous restrictions

on their freedom. This can include societal norms and expectations that limit
their choices and opportunities, as well as legal barriers that discriminate against
them.
Acquisition of employment opportunities is regarded as one of the major
objectives of all individuals, irrespective of their communities, categories and
socio-economic backgrounds.
In some cases, the male and female employees are required to carry out same
job duties. It is essential that they should be given equal pay for the same job
duties performed. But women are discriminated against in terms of pay. The
hiring authorities prefer the selection of male employees and female employees
are rejected, even when they possess the essential educational qualifications,
skills and capabilities. Hence, this signifies that preference is given to males.
The women are not regarded capable in terms of putting into operation various
job duties.
SOME Factors AND PROBLEMS highlighting prevalence of Gender
Inequality within Workplace ARE Prevalence of Discriminatory Treatment,
Deprivation regarding Equal Rights and Opportunities, Experiencing of Abuse
and Mistreatment, Sexual Harassment ,ETC

Gender Inequality in education is a persistent problem within the Indian

society, especially for the girls, belonging to economically weaker sections of
the society. The major factors that contribute to education gaps are, socio-
economic factors, accessibility to learning materials and resources, time devoted
towards formal learning activities and the cultural viewpoints and perspectives
among individuals and communities regarding the education of girls. In usually
rural communities, there has been prevalence of the viewpoint among
individuals that girls are meant to carry out the household chores and school
education is not meant for them. They have to eventually get married and in
their marital homes, they would not have any opportunities to make use of their
educational skills, but carry out the household responsibilities. But these
perspectives are changing and girls too are encouraged towards acquisition of
education. Factors Causing Gender Inequality in Education are Conditions of
Poverty, Prevalence of Traditional Viewpoints, Discriminatory Treatment
among Girls, Occurrence of Criminal and Violent Acts, Child Marriage,
Education of the Parents, Management of Household Responsibilities etc.
According to the two research papers and the knowledge I uphold, india is
a male dominated country and there are different views and opinions about
gender discrimination prevelant in the nation. The research paper provides data
about what the government is doing to bandish the issue for example , The
Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act says that all
children, between the ages of six to 14 years should have the right to free and
compulsory education. Another program that was initiated was Sarva Shiksha
Abhiyan (SSA) in 2000-2001. The primary objective of this program was to
eliminate gender gaps in education, achieve educational objectives throughout
the country, access and retention and bring about improvements in the quality of
education. These are some programs and laws to provide education to every
child of our country.

Some Measures to Eliminate Gender Inequality within the Workplace are

Formulation of Laws and Rules, Treating Women and other communities with
Respect and Courtesy etc.

As far as I believe gender inequality is not only between men and women,
women are not only the ones who face these problems. Men are also not
allowed and given freedom to do anything they like. they are born and brought
up with a severe pressure of responsibilities on their heads. Furthermore not
only men and women, oppressed genders and the lgbtq community face a lot
more and suffer from deep pain due to the way they are treated around the globe
in different areas.

Although the research and responses I got while making the project were related
the pain and agony faced by women and I have realised that Every child
deserves to reach her or his full potential, but gender inequalities in their lives
and in the lives of those who care for them hinder this reality. Wherever they
live in India girls and boys see gender inequality in their homes and
communities every day – in textbooks, in movies, in the media and among the
men and women who provide their care and support.

Across India gender inequality results in unequal opportunities, and while it

impacts on the lives of both genders, statistically it is girls that are the most
disadvantaged.

AT LAST I WOULD SAY THAT ERADICTION OF THIS MENANCE WOULD

LEAD TO A BETTER WORLD FOR ALL OF US.
