Features

BITUFLEX M is a thixotropic bitumen emulsion suitable for damp proofing and as a curing agent for concrete
structures. Coating dries to form as a black protective film yet flexible in nature. Cured product acts as a barrier
for water vapor transmission and can be used as a curing compound for freshly casted concrete structures.

Typical Uses

BITUFLEX M can be effectively used as a damp proofing for concrete structures for sub floor levels and below
ground structures. It is used as a vapour barrier coating for block works prior to cladding facades finishing.

Surface Preparation

The surface which BITUFLEX M is to be applied must be clean and free of dust, traces of curing compound, or
any other material which may impair adhesion All surface imperfections should be removed and repaired. Old
concrete must be structurally sound prior to application.

Application

Agitate the drum before use. The drum should be rolled on the ground back and forth before decanting material.
Apply by brush or roller. Two or more coats must be applied to ensure a durable finish. Second and subsequent
coats should be applied at right angles to each other once previous coat have fully cured, allow min 24 hours
between first and second coat for better curing. BITUFLEX M can be applied to damp but not water clogged
surfaces, dampen the brush before and occasionally during use, for smoother application. As a prime coat dilute
with 20% water and apply.

Coverage

Recommended application rate is 4 -5 m2/Liter.

Packaging/ Storage

BITUFLEX M is supplied in 20 kg and 200 kg drums. Store in shaded warehouses away from direct sunlight,
heat, humidity or moisture.
Shelf life will be 12 months when stored as per recommendations. Excessive exposure to sunlight or other
sources of heat will result in deterioration of the product and reduce its shelf life

Health & safety

As with all chemical products, care should be taken to avoid contact with skin, eyes, mouth and
foodstuffs. Treat splashes to eyes and skin immediately, by thorough washing with clean water. If
ingested seek medical attention
