DIAGNOSIS AND REMEDIATION

OF READING DIFFICULTIES
1ST SEMESTER A.Y. 2022-2023
PART 2. TEST RESULTS CONDUCTED ON:
1. SIGHT WORDS TEST
2. ORAL READING FLUENCY
3. SPELLING (EITHER ELEMENTARY OR UPPER LEVEL)

PREPARED BY:
DIAYANARA ROSE S. CACHO
DOLCH SIGHT WORD
ASSESSMENT
For this test, I adapted an assessment tool from Lisa Hodge of Craigsville Elementary, Augusta County in
Virginia (2009). It consists of five parts of words to be assessed as my nephew, Jhorex read those words. I was not
able to check every word because he merely read those correctly.
Part A. Jhorex can read words based on their syllabic sounds. However , if he’s not familiar with the word, he just
read it effortlessly like he’s not thinking if it’s correct or not.
FRY ORAL READING TEST
My niece, Eulanica A. Donor is my respondent for Fry Oral Reading Test who is an 8 th grader. The assessment tool has seven (7)
groups of passage to be read. But for no. 1 and no. 2 passages, these are divided into part A and part B. And for these parts, Nica read
each passage almost correctly with fast speed. However, as the number of passages increases, the level of difficulty increases as well.

I have given the student’s copy of passages but I think her eyes have problems in reading clearly some words. She also needs more
time for reading more difficult or unfamiliar words for her grade level.
ELEMENTARY SPELLING INVENTORY (ESI)
For the Spelling Test, Jhorex almost spelled correctly the words I dictated. However, he did not write or include
some sounds or letters. Only the word BED, was properly spelled by Jhorex. To add humor, he also marked ‘x’ the
numbers which he doesn’t know the word to spell, at all.
