Course: Properties of Electrical Materials
Experiment no.: 5
Program: EPM
Objectives:
After completing this experiment, I will be able to:
1. Explain working principles of solar cell.
2. Measure voltage and current characteristic of solar cell.

Introduction:
Photovoltaic cells consist of two or more layers of semiconductors
with one layer containing positive charge and the other negative
charge lined adjacent to each other. Sunlight, consisting of small
packets of energy termed as photons, strikes the cell, where it is
reflected, either transmitted or absorbed.
Solar cells, also known as PV cells or Photovoltaic cells,
are electrical devices used to convert light energy into
electric energy by using the photovoltaic effect. They are a
form of photoelectric cell energy whose electrical functions
include voltage, current, and resistance. These, however, vary
when exposed to light.

Apparatus:
Main: 1 solar cell, 1 Volt meter.
Auxiliary: Multimeter ,Black cover.
Conclusion:
When Is.c increased, Vs.c decreased.
