UPGRADE TO GPS-4000S

SYNOPSIS OF CHANGE

This Service Bulletin has been revised to announce the upgraded RCI GPS-4000S P/N 822-2189-002, which
replaces GPS-4000S P/N 822-2189-001.

• Airplanes that have not complied with the original issue of this Service Bulletin should accomplish this
revision to replace GPS-4000 with GPS-4000S, or upgrade GPS-4000A to GPS-4000S.

• Airplanes that have complied with the original issue of this Service Bulletin (which installed the GPS-
4000S P/N 822-2189-001), should not comply again with this Service Bulletin, but should instead
accomplish the new and simultaneously issued Recommended Service Bulletin 34-3992, NAVIGATION -
INSTALLATION OF ROCKWELL COLLINS (RCI) GPS-4000S RECEIVER/SENSOR UNITS WITH TSO
APPROVED SOFTWARE UPGRADE, which installs the aforementioned GPS-4000S P/N 822-2189-002.

Relevant technical changes are marked with change bars in the outside margins.

SERVICE BULLETIN
B. Reason

This Service Bulletin is being issued: 1) to allow replacement of the RCI GPS-4000 with the RCI GPS-
4000S; or 2) to upgrade the RCI GPS-4000A to RCI GPS-4000S.

The RCI GPS-4000S provides increased GPS accuracy and improved availability. In addition, the GPS-
4000S allows airports with only GPS approach capability to be used as alternates and allows AC 90-100A
Area Navigation (RNAV) operation without performing pre-dispatch Receiver Autonomous Integrity
Monitoring (RAIM) prediction. The RCI GPS-4000S will be required for operators to take advantage of
Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and Localizer Performance Vertical (LPV) guidance approach
capability upon availability in a future Flight Management System (FMS) upgrade option.

C. Description

This Service Bulletin provides instructions for the removal of the existing RCI GPS-4000 or GPS-4000A
Receiver/Sensor Unit(s) and disposition as follows:

• The GPS-4000 Receiver/Sensor Unit(s) cannot be upgraded and must be replaced.

• The GPS-4000A Receiver/Sensor Unit(s) will be sent to RCI for incorporation of Service Bulletins
GPS-4X00( )-34-501 and GPS-4X00( )-34-502 to accomplish the conversion to the GPS-4000S
configuration.

The GPS-4000S requires one P/N CI 401-220 antenna for each receiver/sensor unit. All other GPS
antennas must be replaced.

D. Compliance

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation considers compliance to be at the owner’s/operator’s option.

E. Approval

The engineering data contained in this Service Bulletin is FAA approved.

This modification is classified minor per FAA Order 8110.52.
Prior to accomplishment, owners/operators of airplanes registered in countries other than the United
States shall consult with their local Aviation Regulatory Authority.
