November 14, 2008, must comply with Revision B in its entirety.
Operators that have previously complied with Customer Service Notice 92-046A, dated
December 24, 2008, review reidentification steps of Revision B for compliance. Operators that
have previously complied with Customer Service Notice 92-046A, dated December 24, 2008,
and Amendment 001, TDA-09-001, dated March 19, 2009 are not affected by Revision B. No
further action is required. Operators that have not previously complied with Customer Service
Notice 92-046A, dated December 24, 2008, must comply with Revision B in its entirety.

Subject: AUTO FLIGHT- Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) Trim Release Modification,
Installation of
1. PLANNING INFORMATION
A. Purpose
This Customer Service Notice (CSN) provides instruction to install the AFCS Trim Release
Modification Kit. This AFCS upgrade is required to support the new functionality of the
Flight Control Computers (92900-01802-110).
B. Effectivity
The AFCS Trim Release Modification Installation is applicable to S92A helicopters delivered
with serial numbers 920006 through 920052, 920054 through 920060, 920062, 920063 and
920065 through 920068.
It is not applicable to helicopters that have been upgraded prior to the release of this
CSN.
C. Description
Helicopter is prepared for maintenance. Electrical and hydraulic power is turned off. RH
cockpit main harness is modified. RH cabin harness assembly is modified. AFCS RH main
harness assembly is modified. AFCS LH rack harness assembly is modified. AFCS LH
main harness assembly is modified. LH cabin main harness assembly is modified. Remove
No. 1 relay panel. No. 1 relay panel is modified. The K130 relay is installed into No. 1
relay panel. Reinstall No. 1 relay panel. Remove No. 2 relay panel. No. 2 relay panel is
modified. The K230 relay is installed into No. 2 relay panel. Reinstall No. 2 relay panel.
AFCS system tests are performed. Helicopter is returned to service.
D. Compliance
This CSN may be complied with prior to the installation of the Flight Control Computers
(92900-01802-110). The Flight Control Computers will be retrofitted by Alert Service Bulletin
92-22-002.
E. Approval
The change affected by this document is classified as Minor, and is in accordance with the
applicable requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations FAR 29. Such data submitted by
the TC holder for use on an EU-registered helicopter and related articles are automatically
approved by ED Decision 2004/04/CF, as amended by ED Decision 2007/001/C. Reference
to the ED Decisions mentioned above shall be made in the release documents issued by
the EASA 145 approved organization, releasing the relevant EU-registered helicopter or
component to service.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
(3) Modify AFCS LH rack harness (92602-01127-043) using AFCS LH rack wire group
(92552-55033-049) (Figure 1):
(g) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to split ring braid terminator (M85049/93)
or EMI collector rings.
(h) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeves (SS7072B0093S010)
to cables (FMOD55033-3B-22 and FMOD55033-4A-22).
(4) Modify AFCS LH main harness (92602-01101-045) using AFCS LH nose wire group
(92552-55033-047) (Figure 1):
(f) Feed cable (FMOD55033-4B-22) through black expando and braid sock near braid
terminator. Install six inches of shrink tubing (SS7072) to ends of cable
(FMOD55033-4B-22) where cable enters black expando and braid sock.
(k) Create splice group SG177R-7 by connecting wires (C5294C22 and JMPRP177R-
13-22) and cable (FMOD55033-3A-22) to splice (M81824/1-2).
(m) Feed cable (FMOD55033-3A-22) through black expando and braid sock near braid
terminator. Install six inches of shrink tubing (SS7072) to end of cable
(FMOD55033-4B-22) where cable enters black expando and braid sock.
(p) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeves (SS7072B0093S010)
to cables (FMOD55033-3A-22 and FMOD55033-4B-22).
(t) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to composite split ring braid terminator
(M85049/93) or EMI collector rings.
(u) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeves (SS7072B0093S010)
to cables (FMOD55033-3A-22 and FMOD55033-4B-22).
(5) Modify AFCS LH cockpit harness (92602-01101-046) using LH cockpit main wire
group (92552-55033-045) (Figure 1):
(g) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to composite split ring braid terminator
(M85049/93) or EMI collector rings.
(h) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeve (SS7072B0093S010) to
cable (FMOD55033-4C-22).
(6) Modify AFCS LH cabin main harness (92552-02101-045) using LH cabin main wire
group (92552-55033-043) (Figure 1):
(g) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to composite split ring braid terminator
(M85049/93) or EMI collector rings.
(h) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeve (SS7072B0093S010) to
cable (FMOD55033-4D-22).
(7) Modify RH cabin main harness (92552-02102-045) using RH cabin main wire group
(92552-55033-044) (Figure 2):
(g) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to composite split ring braid terminator
(M85049/93-18) or EMI collector rings.
(h) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeve (SS7072B0093S010) to
cable (FMOD55033-1A-22).
(8) Modify RH cockpit main harness (92552-01102-046) using RH cockpit main wire
group (92552-55033-046) (Figure 2):
(g) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to composite split ring braid terminator
(M85049/93-18) or EMI collector rings.
(h) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeve (SS7072B0093S010) to
cable (FMOD55033-1B-22).
(9) Modify AFCS RH main harness (92602-01100-045) using AFCS RH nose wire group
(92552-55033-048) (Figure 2):
(f) Feed cable (FMOD55033-1C-22) through black expando and braid sock near braid
terminator. Install six inches of shrink tubing (SS7072) to ends of cable
(FMOD55033-1C-22) where cable enters black expando and braid sock.
(k) Create splice group SG178R-8 by connecting wires (C5197D22 and JMPRP178R-
W-22) and cable (FMOD55033-2A-22) to splice (M81824/1-2).
(m) Feed cable (FMOD55033-2A-22) through black expando and braid sock near braid
terminator. Install six inches of shrink tubing (SS7072) to end of cable
(FMOD55033-2A-22) where cable enters black expando and braid sock.
(o) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to composite split ring braid terminator
(M85049/93-18) or EMI collector rings.
(p) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeve (SS7072B0093S010) to
cables (FMOD55033-1C-22 and FMOD55033-2A-22).
(t) Terminate solder sleeves (S0302R-100) to composite split ring braid terminator
(M85049/93-18) or EMI collector rings.
(u) If window splice method was used, install insulation sleeve (SS7072B0093S010) to
cables (FMOD55033-1C-22 and FMOD55033-2A-22).
(10) Modify No. 1 relay panel (92552-02103-044) using No. 1 relay panel wire group
(92070-55033-016) (Figures 3, 5 and 6):
(b) Remove screws (NAS601-8B) and washers (NAS1149DN616K) securing top cover
(92550-02303-102) to No. 1 relay panel enclosure.
(c) Remove top cover (92550-02303-102) from No. 1 relay panel enclosure.
(d) Drill 0.170 inch diameter holes through No. 1 relay panel (92550-02302-044) and
bracket (AND10133-1001) as shown.
NOTE: Some of the following steps may have been performed prior to receipt of
the modification kit.
(f) Using an abrasive pad, remove any paint or film from mating surfaces of bracket
(AND10133-1001) and No. 1 relay panel (92550-02302-044).
NOTE: After applying Alodine 600, bracket must be mounted within 24 hours. If
not, steps (f) and (g) must be repeated.
(g) Apply Alodine 600 to mounting surfaces of bracket (92070-55033-041) and No. 1
relay panel (92550-02302-044).
NOTE: Results from the following electrical bond check shall not exceed 2.5
milliohms.
(l) Install relay socket (M12883/45-01) and relay K130 (M83536/2-024M) to bracket
(92070-55033-041).
(m) In No. 1 relay panel (92550-02302-044), remove wire (J241GK127-X1-20) from pin
X1 of relay K127.
(n) Remove wire (J271R(XK127-X2-20) from pin X2 of relay K127 and pin x of
electrical receptacle J271R.
(w) Install wire (FMOD55033-7A-20) to pin A3 of relay K130 and pin X2 of relay
K127.
(y) Install wire (FMOD55033-8A-20) to pin X2 of relay K130 and pin J of electrical
receptacle J271R.
(aa) Install wire (FMOD55033-6A-20) to pin A2 of relay K130 and pin x of electrical
receptacle J271R.
(ac) Install top cover (92550-02303-102) to No. 1 relay panel using screws (NAS601-
8B) and washers (NAS1149DN616K).
3 Vibration/Dot Peen Marking: Vibration Peen Markers or Dot Peen Markers shall
be used with a 0.010-inch minimum radius carbide or diamond tip.
4 Handwriting directly on the part (shall only be used when absolutely necessary).
A metal fountain pen shall be used with one of the recommended inks listed in
consumables.
(11) Modify No. 2 relay panel (92552-02104-044) using No. 2 relay panel wire group
(92070-55033-017) (Figures 4, 5, and 6):
(b) Remove screws (NAS601-8B) and washers (NAS1149DN616K) securing top cover
(92550-02303-102) to No. 2 relay panel.
(d) Drill 0.170-inch diameter holes through No. 2 relay panel (92550-02302-044) and
bracket (AND10133-1001).
NOTE: Some of the following steps may have been performed prior to receipt of
the modification kit.
(f) Using an abrasive pad, remove any paint or film from mating surfaces of bracket
(AND10133-1001) and No. 2 relay panel (92550-02302-044).
NOTE: After applying Alodine 600, bracket must be mounted within 24 hours. If
not, steps (f) and (g) must be repeated.
(g) Apply Alodine 600 to mounting surfaces of bracket (AND10133-1001) and No. 2
relay panel (92550-02302-044).

(m) Install relay socket (M12883/45-01) and relay K230 (M83536/2-024M) to bracket
(92070-55033-042).
(n) Remove wire (J270R(ZK227-X2-20) from pin X2 of relay K227 and pin z of
electrical receptacle J270R.
(q) Install wire (FMOD55033-10A-20) to pin A2 of relay K230 and pin z of electrical
receptacle J270R.
(s) Install wire (FMOD55033-9A-20) to pin X2 of relay K230 and pin P of electrical
receptacle J270R.
(u) Install wire (FMOD55033-11A-20) to pin A3 of relay K230 and pin X2 of relay
K227.
(aa) Install top cover (92550-02303-102) to No. 2 relay panel using screws (NAS601-
8B) and washers (NAS1149DN616K).
(12) Perform section 3.B. to complete AFCS trim release field modification kit installation.
(3) Disconnect electrical connector P114R from No. 2 flight control computer electrical
receptacle J4. Disconnect electrical connector P115R from No. 1 flight control
computer electrical receptacle J4.
(4) Install caps (MS90376 or equivalent) on the No. 1 and No. 2 flight control computer
electrical receptacle J4.
(5) Assemble four test leads using contacts (M39029/58-360) and wire (22 AWG).
NOTE: Pin 22 of electrical connectors P114R and P115R will be used to probe for
trim clutch voltage (0 or 28vdc). Pin 13 will be grounded to activate new
trim release wiring.
(6) Insert mating male pins from the test leads into pin 22 of electrical connectors
P114R and P115R.
(8) Verify voltage at pin 22 of electrical connectors P114R and P115R is 28vdc.
(9) Using test lead, jumper pin 13 of electrical connector P115R to ground.
(10) Verify voltage at pin 22 of electrical connector P114R remains 28vdc and voltage at
pin 22 of electrical connector P115R is 0vdc.
(11) Verify pitch actuator force gradient is active and roll trim actuator is released by
moving the cyclic stick as follows:
a) When cyclic stick is moved forward and aft, force gradient should be felt.
b) When cyclic stick is moved left and right, force gradient should not be felt.
(12) Remove jumper from pin 13 of electrical connector P115R and verify voltage at pin
22 of electrical connector P115R is 28vdc.
(14) Verify voltage at pin 22 of electrical connectors P114R and P115R is 0vdc.
(16) Verify voltage at pin 22 of electrical connectors P114R and P115R is 28vdc.
(17) Using test lead, jumper pin 13 of electrical connector P114R to ground.
(18) Verify voltage at pin 22 of electrical connector P114R is 0vdc and voltage at pin 22
of electrical connector P115R is 28vdc.
(19) Verify roll trim actuator force gradient is active and pitch actuator is released by
moving the cyclic stick as follows:
a) When cyclic stick is moved left and right, force gradient should be felt.
b) When cyclic stick is moved forward and aft, force gradient should not be felt.
(20) Remove jumper from pin 13 of electrical connector P114R and verify voltage at pin
22 of electrical connector P114R is 28vdc.
(22) Verify voltage at pin 22 of electrical connectors P114R and P115R is 0vdc.
(24) Verify voltage at pin 22 of electrical connectors P114R and P115R is 28vdc.
(26) Reconnect electrical connector P114R to No. 2 flight control computer electrical
receptacle J4. Reconnect electrical connector P115R to No. 1 flight control computer
electrical receptacle J4.
(27) Perform AFCS pre-flight built-in test. Refer to Functional Checkflight Procedures
Manual, SA S92A-FCP-000.
(28) Perform AFCS cyclic trim release ground test. Refer to Maintenance Manual, SA
S92A-AMM-000, Section/Chapter 22-11-00.
(29) Perform AFCS flight checks. Refer to Functional Checkflight Procedures Manual, SA
S92A-FCP-000.
C. Record of Compliance
(1) Make an appropriate logbook entry to show compliance with this CSN.
(2) Upon compliance with this CSN, complete attached CSN Compliance Record and
return it to Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation.
