D. Tools Required
3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Removal procedure for connector is the same for all four tail rotor blades.
(3) Locate bracket (92170-11002-101) at right stations 10.80 through 16.50 and remove
four screws (NAS600-7P), and four washers (NAS620C4) securing existing heating
element connector (M83723/83G1407N). Discard all mounting hardware.
(4) Access the connector (M83723/83G1407N) wires by slicing the viton molded to the
connector. Cut along the molded parting line, parallel to the wires. This will allow the
viton to open like a clam shell and provide access to the wires.
NOTE: • Take note of the wire locations in the connector for reinstallation into new
connector.
• Pin one is located in the center and pin number 7 is unused.
(6) Remove the wires from the connector using suitable pin removal tool. Discard
connector.
(7) Inspect wire insulation for damage and repair damaged wires with heat shrink tubing
(if wires damaged).
(1) Prepare area and new connector (M83723/85G1407N) for bond using 150 grit emery
cloth on the existing viton and alcohol wipe all bond areas on the viton and
connector threads.
(2) Position the thermo fit (shrink) tube (SS7073-0202) over wire harness.
(3) Install the wires into new connector (M83723/85G1407N) in the same pin locations
as they were removed from the old connector (M83723/83G1407N). Use suitable pin
installation tool.
(5) Rotate connector (M83723/85G1407N) and twist wires to previous clocking location.
NOTE: Thermo fit (shrink) tube must cover rework area with adhesive squeeze-out
visible on both ends of the tube.
(6) Heat shrink the thermo fit (shrink) tube (SS7073-0202) into position.
(7) Cure adhesive (EC2216 or equivalent) for 12 hours minimum at 70° F to 80° F (21°
to 27° C).
(8) Inspect sealant surrounding RIPS wire harness where it enters leading edge of tail
rotor blade. Refer to Figure 1. If sealant is not damaged and/or exposed edges are
not showing, proceed to step (11). If sealant is damaged or is not insulating exposed
edges of part, remove sealant as follows:
(a) Using nonmetallic scraper (or equivalent), remove sealant from around periphery of
harness. Make sure any loose sealant is removed.
(b) Clean mating surfaces with clean non-woven, fabric cleaning cloth (or equivalent)
and Isopropyl Alcohol (TT-I-735A or equivalent).
(12) Using milliohmmeter (R1L-E1 or equivalent) perform bonding check per Maintenance
Manual SA S92A-AMM-000, Section/Chapter 30-61-06.
(13) Perform Initiated Built-In Test (IBIT) per Maintenance Manual SA S92A-AMM-000,
Section/Chapter 30-61-06.
C. Record of Compliance
(1) Make an appropriate logbook entry to show compliance with this CSN.
(2) Upon compliance with this Customer Service Notice, complete attached Customer
