I. PLANNING INFORMATION
A. Effectivity
LM2500 gas generators, serial numbers 671-050 through 671-055, 671-101 through
671-121, and 671-124 through 671-175, are affected by this Service Bulletin.
LM2500 gas turbines, serial numbers 672-051, 672-052, and 672-101 through
672-116, are affected by this Service Bulletin.
LM2500+ gas turbines, serial numbers 559-101 through 559-116, 642-101 through
642-107, and 642-109 through 642-152, are affected by this Service Bulletin.

NOTE
For LM2500 base DLE gas generators equipped with cast gas manifold (reference
GEK 103090, Figure 35) and installed in a shipping container, manifold radial
support brackets, 1C8216, must be replaced simultaneously with diffuser mount
pins. The support brackets currently attach to the mount pins at struts No. 1, 4,
5, 7, 8, and 10 (reference GEK 103089, WP 303 00). Contact Customer Service
Manager (CSM) for delivery of redesigned support brackets.
A. Remove safety wire and remove CRF diffuser mounting pin No. 1, located at 12:00
o’clock position, adjacent to strut No. 1. See Figure 1.

B. If gas generator has accumulated more than 1500 hours, inspect CRF struts, No. 2
and 3, per IAD Service Letter No. 2500-I-99-06, Revision 1, dated 5 January 2000.
If measured strut thickness is less than 0.060 in. (1.52 mm), contact your CSM.
C. If strut thickness is greater than 0.060 in. (1.52 mm), install new CRF expandable
bolt assembly, PN 1753M57P01, into CRF at 12:00 o’clock position, adjacent
to strut No. 1. See Figure 2.
CAUTION
DO NOT USE SMALL NUT ON EXPANDABLE BOLT ASSEMBLY TO TIGHTEN
BOLT. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY CAUSE BOLT DAMAGE.
(2) If CRF expandable bolt assembly, PN 1753M57P01, does not seat against
CRF assembly, proceed to step F and tap CRF threads.
CAUTION
ENSURE CRF DIFFUSER MOUNTING PIN IS SECURED WITH SAFETY WIRE
OR PLIERS AFTER THE EXPANDABLE NUTS ARE REMOVED. FAILURE TO
COMPLY MAY RESULT IN THE PIN FALLING INTO THE ENGINE
(3) Insert HSS M-2 tap, 0.500-20 UNJF-3A, into CRF and engage first thread.
(4) Turn tap clockwise until tap engages all threads, approximately
0.66 in. (16.8 mm). Remove tap.
(5) Inspect threads after tap removal. Ensure threads are free of burrs and are
of correct geometry.

(2) While holding hex-head wrench to prevent center stem from turning, tighten
small nut to 65-80 lb in. (7.3-9.0 N.m) of torque.
CAUTION
REPLACE CRF DIFFUSER MOUNTING PINS WITH EXPANDABLE BOLTS ONE
BOLT AT A TIME, OR SHIFTING OF CRF COMPONENTS MAY OCCUR.
I. Repeat steps A. through H. to install remaining nine (9) CRF expandable bolt
assemblies, PN 1753M57P01, adjacent to struts No. 2 through No. 10.
J. At first engine shutdown after accomplishing this service bulletin, recheck all
expandable bolt assemblies torque (in tightening direction) per steps F.6. and E.2.
Compliance with this Service Bulletin must be entered in local records. The attached
Service Bulletin Compliance Record form must be completed and returned to the address
indicated on the compliance form.
