people and property of the area. These events can be caused by humans or by
natural phenomena.

Global warming can indirectly cause disasters such as floods, earthquakes, droughts
and storms.

The cause of a flood in a coastal area could be overflowing due to heavy rainfall or
melting of ice, improper construction of dams or structures.

The 3 stages of disaster management are mitigation and preparedness, response,
recovery.

possible, after a disaster strikes?
Some basic services expected to be restored by the government are electricity,
drinking water and maintaining cleanliness by doing things such as garbage removal.
6. How does a nuclear disaster harm the environment?
Nuclear disasters are caused when an excessive amount of radioactive material is
released into the environment. This pollutes the air, water and land over a large area
thus making it inhabitable.

The national disaster response team immediately reacted to this natural disaster.
500+ relief camps were set up for the people affected. Organisations helped recruit
people using boats, helicopters and helpers.

archipelagoes. These islands lie in the Indian and Pacific oceans. The islands
lying in the Indian ocean are Sri Lanka, Lakshadweep, and the Andaman and
Nicobar islands. A few Indonesian islands lie in the Indian Ocean as well as
the Pacific Ocean. Islands in the Pacific Ocean are the Japanese islands, the
Philippines, Taiwan and the Kuril Islands. Islands such as Japan and Kuril
islands are peaks of submerged fold mountains and volcanic mountains lying
in the pacific ring of fire, hence being earthquake and volcanic prone.

The highest and second highest mountain peaks lie in Asia. The highest peak
is Mt.Everest,8850m, and the second-highest is Mt.Godwin Austen,8611.
