Biology Project

Shaurya Chauhan
Class - X
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my
teacher Ms. Shikha as well as our principal Ms. Rekha Shah
who gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful
project on the topic “Management of Natural Resources”,
which also helped me in doing a lot of Research and I came to
know about so many new things I am really thankful to them.

Secondly I would also like to thank my parents and friends

who helped me a lot in finalizing this project within the limited
time frame.
CERTIFICATE

This is to certify Shaurya Chauhan that of class X has

successfully completed his project on topic “Management Of
Natural resources” as prescribed by Ms. Shikha .During the
academic year 2022-23
Management of natural resources:
• What are resources and why we need them
• Why do we need to manage our resources
• What is meant by management of resources
• Forest and Wildlife resources
• Water resources
What are resources and why we need them

Everything available in our

environment which can be used to
satisfy our needs given its
technologically accessible and
economically feasible, can be
termed as a resource. Resources
are of utmost importance for
human beings or any other
creatures to survive on this planet
resources are everything from the
food we eat to the metals we
mould. Anything which can be
useful is a resource.
Why do we need to manage our resources?

Many people consider resources to

be the free gift of nature. But it is
not so, resources are a function of
human activities. Without
resources survival would not be
possible on the planet.
Management of resources is as
important as the skill required to
use them. Resources are already
being depleted at as alarming rate.
To counter this problem, the
concept of sustainable
development was given more
importance.
What is meant by management of resources

Natural Resource Management

(NRM) refers to the sustainable
utilization of major natural
resources, such as land, water,
air, minerals, forests, fisheries,
and wild flora and fauna.
Together, these resources
provide the ecosystem services
that provide better quality to
human life. Our present
development should not
compromise with the needs of
future generations
Forest Resources

forest resources means those uses

and values associated with,
attainable from, or closely tied to,
forested landscapes, and includes
but is not limited to aesthetics, fish,
forage, recreation, soil, timber, water
and watersheds, wilderness, and
wildlife. Forest are ‘biodiversity
hotspots’. In the environment forest
and wildlife are interconnected.
Various resources from forest are
utilized to make useful things for us.
Water resources

Water resources are natural

resources of water that are
potentially useful for humans, for
example as a source of drinking
water supply or irrigation water.
97% of the water on the Earth is
salt water and only three percent is
fresh water; slightly over two thirds
of this is frozen in glaciers and
polar ice caps. Water is one of the
most important resource present
on earth and is extremely important
for human survival.
