Retail Services
Retail food establishment means an operation that sells or offers to sell food directly to a
consumer. It includes both a retail grocery and a food service establishment but does not
include a food processing plant. Retail is the process of selling consumer goods or services to
customers through multiple channels of distribution to earn a profit and usually it’s done
directly to its final consumer. The Philippines has a vibrant food retailing scene, which includes
a range of sellers such as street vendors, wet and dry markets, sari-sari shops, grocery stores,
supermarkets, and convenience stores. Retail foods can be packaged in boxes, cans, cellophane
wrapping or cylindrical cardboard containers.
Another type of retail services is hard goods or durable goods. Retail Services is the sale of
goods and/or services in small quantities for the purpose of consumer consumption. Hard
goods are hard, durable items that are usually big in size. It is usually merchandised as for
display or long period use. Some examples of hard goods are furniture, appliances, consumer
electronics, toys, tools, hardware, sporting goods, musical instruments and other goods that
are not quickly wear out and promise durability. Due to its durable nature, hard goods are not
frequently purchased by the same consumer multiple times within short periods of time. The
buying process also takes longer time for consumers to browse and compare alternatives until
it reaches the final purchase decision.
In retail and quality control, products are commonly separated into sections such as soft goods
and hard goods. Soft goods are commonly referred to as products composed of fabric, rubber,
or other flexible materials – and are naturally “soft.” These include bedding, apparel, footwear,
hats, curtains, towels, and belts. These are the goods that are consumed after one use or have
a limited period (typically under three years) in which you may use them. They are designed to
be comfortable and easy to use. They can be stretchable, flexible, and soft. Designing soft
goods can include conceptualization, developing specifications, fabricating prototype rounds,
conducting supplier and material research, and manufacturing support through production.
Retail is the sale of products and services to consumers with the intention making a profit from
each transaction. It involves direct contact with customers or clients either over the phone, or
e-commerce sites. Retail transactions occur across a single point of purchase in the form of a
physical shop, website, direct sales, or catalogue. E-commerce is a business model where
buyers and sellers exchange goods and services with consumers over the internet. Example of
these are shopee, Lazada, Ebay, Amazon, Zalora etc. There are two examples of the different
types of retail stores that consumers interact with the most. Specialty store and Supermarket.
Retail product as Art is a service that provides consumers with access to products that originate
outside of the trade sector, while also providing suppliers with access to the consumer market.
