Certain individuals in society argue that students should be obliged to do

humanitarian activities and not get paid for it. Personally, I am opposed to the
view that unpaid community service should be included in the school
curriculum.
Firstly, students have limited times to do multiple tasks a day. They have
a lot of duties time such as homework, extra classes and family chores.
Therefore, forcing them to do charitable works can not only take up their times
but also cause them to feel exhausted. For example, many high schools’
curriculum is so thick that students have to spend both morning and evening a
day on it. If they are to perform social activities, they will definitely find it
challenging in the academic area. Besides, this also causes teenagers to not have
their own times for spending in the field that they are interested in, which can
discourage them from having a bright future.
Secondly, obligatorily participating in non-profit works can make
youngsters have a bad look on volunteerism. This is because many adolescents
aren’t familiar with handling such activities so they may feel dissatisfied and
disappointed, which can lead to them losing interests. In addition, negative
thoughts may appear and consider community activities as a load of drudgery.
To illustrate, many students are often made to do community tasks such as
gathering trash, alarming people about society’s vices. Consequently, they may
feel that they’re being used and may not want to do these kind of services later
on.
In conclusion, the idea of non-profit services should be compulsory in
schools have negative effects on the students and, therefore, shouldn’t be
promoted.
