QUESTIONS
1. Using the correct terminology, describe the normal structure, function and location and interrelationships
of each of the major body systems. Also evaluate how the relationships between different body systems
affect and support healthy functioning. This should include:
*Muscular system: This system includes all the muscles of the body, skeletal, smooth and
cardiac muscles. It helps for the movement of human body and maintain posture and circulate
blood throughout the body.
*Digestive system: The main organ of this system are mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach,
small and large intestines, rectum and anus. The main function of digestive system is to
digestion and absorption foods and turning them into energy and nutrients to allow the body
to function.
*Endocrine system: The endocrine system is composed of the pituitary gland, parathyroid
glands, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries in female and testicles in male. This system helps in
growth and development the way our organs work and reproduction.
*Immune system and lymphatic system: The immune system is composed of special organs,
cells and chemical that protect from infection. The main parts of the immune system are white
blood cells, antibodies, the complement system, the lymphatic system, the spleen, the thymus,
and the bone marrow. The main function of immune system is to protects body from harmful
substances, germs.
*Nervous system: The main organs of nervous system is brain and spinal cord. The main
function of nervous system is to give command to all body parts.
*Respiratory system: This system consists of all the organs involved in breathing. These
include the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and lungs. The main function of respiratory
system is to brings air into and out of the lungs to absorb oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.
*Reproductive system: The main organs of this system are ovaries and testes. The function is
to produce egg and sperm cells.
*urinary system: urinary system composed of kidneys, ureters, bladder, and the urethra. The
kidneys filter the blood to produce unfriendly to get rid of waste.
*Integumentary system: It include skin, hair, nails, sweat and other exocrine glands. It main
function is to protect body from the outside world. It also function to retain body fluids,
protect against disease, eliminate waste products and regulate body temperature.
* Maintenance of body temperature: body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus much as the
temperature in your home is controlled by a thermostat: The hypothalamus responds to internal and
external stimuli and makes any necessary adjustments to keep your body within a few degrees of
98.6. Body temperature must be controlled within a very narrow range so that body can function
properly.
*Fluid and Electrolytes (including PH) balance: Electrolytes are minerals in our body that have an
electric charge. They are present in blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids. Electrolyte are
essential because they help to balance the amount of water in body and also balance body’s acid/base
(PH) level. The three main organs that regulate fluid balance are brain, the adrenal glands and
kidneys.
* Elimination of wastes from the body: The excretory system helps to eliminate of waste from our
body. The main main function of this system is to eliminate the liquid and gas wastes from body. The
main organs are sweat glands, kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra.
* Maintenance of blood pressure: The blood pressure is the pressure of blood within the arteries. A
blood pressure reading has a top number is systolic and bottom number is diastolic. The normal blood
pressure is less than 120 over 80. To maintain blood pressure eat healthy food . Increase physical
activities, don’t smoke.Decrease the salt in your regular diet.
*Protection from ifection: To protect from infection its important to wash hand properly and regulary.
Do not share personal item.
*Physical Activity- Active and Passive To stay healthy always do physical activities. There are two
type of exercise that Active Exercise its he;p strenghten the communication between btrain and body
for increased the movement. Its also good for muscles and bones. Passive exercise help improve your
perfomace while lowering your risk and injury. Its benefits extend to people who may not be able to
stretch on theior own. It also help to pervent muscle weekness.
2. Create a “Healthy Body Maintenance” fact sheet or handout that would be appropriate to put in the
waiting room at a local health service. This fact sheet/handout should be a minimum single sided, or
maximum a double sided A4 information sheet. It should include information on:
a. Body regulation
b. Protection from infection
c. Active and passive exercise (the benefits of both)
A)Body Regulation:
* Avoid junk food
* Drink Lots of Water
3. Why is it necessary for health workers to use and understand accepted health terminology to describe the
normal structure, function and location of the major body systems?
As a health worker, it is required to correctly use and interpret health terminology for some reasons. Like
as by understanding the appropriate terminology of normal structure, function and location of the major
body system, the health workers can communication effectively and productively with the physician and
other members of the care team. Health care workers needs to communicate with different people
suffering from different diseases so they must know the correct terminology of every medical term to
interact without any hesitation and assumptions.
Better understanding of terminology helps to convey the problems to other medical personnel for quick
solving of problems.
4. What are the 10 human body systems and what do they include?
9.The Dermal or Integumentary : This system includes the skin, hair, and nails.
10.The excretory : This system includes the skin, the lungs, the liver, the kidneys, and the large intestine.
What I learned from watching the heart and circulatory system is how the heart works. The circulatory
system is composed of heart and blood vessels, including arteries, veins, and capillaries. The heart beats
60 to 100 times per minutes but can beat much faster when necessary. The arteries and veins are the
pipes through which blood flows. The lungs provide a place to exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen.
Functions of cardiovascular system are:
1.It circulates oxygen and removes carbon dioxide from body.
2.Removes the waste products of metabolism to the excretory organs for disposal.
3.Protects the body against disease and infection.
4.Provides cells with nutrients.
Maintain healthy eating habits: It is important to take all nutrition that the human body needs, for
example, water, carbohydrates , protein, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. To keep your body hydrate
drink water instead of sugary drinks. It also help you feel energetic, so drink at least 2 liter of water
everyday. Avoid junk food, try to eat vegetables, fruits, dairy products and meat that provide the body
of all required nutrients that above mention.
Stick to an exercise regimen: To do regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and
boost your endurance. It is good for heart to work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung
health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores. It also helps you to have a strong body,
which reduce many health related diseases. It also help to get relaxation and sleep quality.
Be hygienic: If you want to minimize your risk infection always wash your hands before started and
after finished any work. Moreover, take bath daily and brush your teeth and tongue twice a day to
protect from harmful bacteria.
Sleep well every night: Sleep plays an important role in your physical health. For example, sleep
involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Adult should get 7 to 9 hours and
children should get 10 to 11 hours sleep daily. To improve your sleep try to do exercise. Avoid bright
screens within 1–2 hours of your bedtime.
8. How do the Skeletal, Muscular, Cardiovascular and Respiratory system co-operate to allow the body
to function properly and enable movement?
Skeleton and muscular system cooperate with each other. The system that provides your body’s shape
is the Skelton system, and it is made up of cartilage and bone. There are 206 bones in the human
skeleton that support the body and protect the vital organ that they surround. Cartilage provides support
with flexibility to body. Movements in the body is the result of muscle contraction. The contraction of
muscle provides the body posture, joint stability and heat production.
Similarly, cardiovascular system cooperate with respiratory system. The cardiovascular system’s
central organ is heart, which pumps blood to different parts of your body. The blood travels from the
heart to the lungs, where the respiratory system supplies the blood with oxygen. You inhale air through
your nose or mouth, it pass through your pharynx, larynx, trachea and finally to lungs, where it diffuses
in the blood through the alveoli.
9. Using the correct terminology from the list below, label the diagram of the heart.

A cell consists of parts: the cell membrane, the nucleus, cytoplasm, organelles, and chromosome.
Cytoplasms : it surrounds the nucleus.
Chromosome: it is a thread like structure within the nucleus.
The nucleus: it directs cells activities.
Organelles: it is a structures Thad is suspended in the cytoplasms.
