Lecture 5
Book References
Bernhard Ziehn
Updated Link from Video: In Video Lecture 5 you were given a reference to Bernhard Ziehnʼs
1907 edition of his Manual of Harmony as a free PDF from Books.Google.com. Sadly, itʼs no
longer available as a free Google digitized edition. As the Hathi Trust Digital Library took over
the Google digitized books, it may show up at the Hathi Trust website in the future. Itʼs currently
listed by Hathi but is not available to view at this time.

Reprints of the book can be ordered through Amazon and other booksellers. If you can find this
book, itʼs well worth it for the information it contains.

Percy Goetschius
Updated Link from Video: Also referenced in Video Lecture 5, The Material Used in Musical
Composition, by Percy Goetschius is no longer available as a free digitized edition from
Books.Google.com. You'll find a link to one of the free public domain digital editions in your
Lecture 4 Listening Guide PDF.

NOTE: The web links in this document cannot be guaranteed to be permanently available. If you
find any of the links to be inactive please look for an alternative resource.
