INTRODUCTION

ABOUT ME
Greetings and a hearty greeting to everyone. My name is Nurul Zahidah Binti Mohd Zaid,
and I'm 18 years old. I'm a Gurun, Kedah native. I was given the opportunity to continue my
studies at the university level in the Diploma in Accounting Information System at UiTM
Kampus Cawangan Arau, Perlis, after my appeal application was accepted. Even though this
programme is my top choice, I initially had less interest in pursuing further study in it
because I was more interested in the Diploma Accounting programme. However, after
researching this programme, I made the decision that I wanted to challenge myself since I
believed it would be highly beneficial to me in the future. The main objective of this portfolio
is to introduce UED 102.

What is UED 102?

Every student needs to learn study skills, also referred to as UED 102, in order to succeed in
university. These skills include efficient time management, goal-setting, learning styles,
learning techniques, and digesting information from lectures and texts. That will enable
students to meet the challenges of tertiary-level academic requirements.

TOPIC 1 : GETTTING READY TO LEARN

Making The Transition ( from school to university)

It is not simple to go from being in school to university. Students must acquire new
acquaintances, learn new information, and alter their lifestyles as needed in order to feel at
home in their new environment. Adapting to a new life is challenging, but the experience is
worthwhile.
Characteristic of Succesful Student
1. Go to every class. Attending all of your
classes is one of the finest strategies for
succeeding in college. Although the course
content will be covered on tests, the majority
of the test questions will be drawn from
lectures.
2. Take the initiative to learn. In contrast to
high school, you cannot learn the whole
course content by simply reading it through
once or twice. To commit the knowledge to
long-term memory, you must write and
repeat it.
3. Take part in class. If engaging in class
makes you feel a little awkward, resolve to
ask or respond to one question per class.
You'll start to feel more a part of the group
and more engaged in the learning process
once you start contributing.
4. Learn About Your Professors. Stop by the
lecturer's office during business hours or
before or after the class for a brief conversation. Ask a question regarding the course material
or inquire about your academic progress. Getting to know your professors may make it easier
for you to ask for assistance when you need it.
5. Gather friends to form study groups. Study groups with three to four members are reported
to be particularly successful. Make sure your buddies are included, though, because only
those who are committed to excelling in their academics will provide their support.
6. Continue to do your work. Many first-year college students find it challenging to complete
all of the required reading. You might never have enough time to catch up on your reading if
you get behind. With each passing week of the semester, the burden at college only becomes
more. Never put things off!
7.Be Open-Minded to Change. Ask your professor or instructor for advice on alternative
learning methods if the techniques you employed in high school aren't effective. You must be
willing to give the suggestions they make a go, even if it doesn't seem like they'll work. You
won't notice changes in your performance if you don't alter the way you take notes, read your
texts, or study for examinations, for instance.
8. Be diligent this semester. Don't worry about doing all of your homework in the evening.
You will require a minimum of thirty hours to complete your coursework if you are taking
fifteen credits this semester (two hours outside of class for every hour in class). You will
need extra time to do your job thoroughly if you want to earn excellent marks, work slowly,
or are taking challenging courses.
LEARNING STYLE INVENTORY
I've completed a learning style inventory to determine my learning preferences. Prior to this, I
was incredibly simple to comprehend by hearing since I like the sort of auditory learning
approach. Then, the various kinaesthetic and visual learning techniques are occasionally
straightforward and simple for me to comprehend. I can now maintain concentrate since I am
aware of my preferred method of studying.
TOPIC 2 : GOAL STETEMENT-FIVE STEPS APPROACH
GOAL SETTING
 Setting goals helps you to envision your ideal future and inspires you to work toward
making it a reality.
 You can navigate life's processes with the aid of the goal-setting process.
 Setting objectives that are realistic and attainable will inspire and unite you. Once
your goals are met, your confidence will increase more quickly and effectively.

PRIORITIZED TO-DO-LIST
The fundamental goal of having a prioritised to-do list is not to guarantee that everything gets
done immediately. With the aid of this list, you may determine the urgency with which you
must finish each task in light of the impending deadline. Prioritized to-do lists inspire us to
organise our task management so that we won't forget any crucial tasks. We simply make it
simpler to refer to the tasks that must be completed first; we don't take the less important
tasks lightly. I have attached a sample prioritised to-do list below.
TOPIC 5 : MEMORY,LEARNING AND IMPROVING CONCENTRATION
MEMORY STRATEGIES

WHAT IS MEMORY ?
 Registration, storage, and retrieval of information occur mentally.
 Memory comes in several forms.
 The ability to remember links between environmental events and a person's life
experiences is a trait of living things.

WHAT IS BRAIN ?
The brain is a gift from our God to each of his creatures so that they can deliberate before
acting.

pretty poor.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRATEGIES
Create three categories or groups to help you recall stuff. Additionally, you may recall more
than 4 things from each category rather quickly thanks to the headers' ability to spark
memory.

CONCENTRATION STRATEGIES
Paying attention and concentrating on what we are doing are both characteristics of
concentration.

CAUSES OF POOR CONCENTRATION

STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE CONCENTRATION

Because I become bored fast, especially if the subject doesn't pique my curiosity to learn
more about it, I always struggle to focus for extended periods of time. I then finished the
exercise my professor had assigned in the previous lesson.

assignment guidelines, sleepiness, and distractions. I must thus act right away on matters like
expanding my knowledge and planning my bedtime to avoid disturbing my attention once
more.
